Yea thought it was great too!

Certainly a refreshing twist on your usual storylines! -

Watched Boyhood last night - for those not in the know it's the Richard Linklater movie filmed over 12 years. I thought it was great. Interesting to see character's age over time (poor Patricia Arquette didn't age as well as Ethan Hawke).

There was some really good tension in some scenes that had me on the edge of my seat but much of it was just a story about a boys life told a over a few scenes a year.

The nearly 3 hours running time flew by and there were only really a few scenes near the end that I found a bit meh (teenage angst and jibberish conversations) but they're just minor quibbles.

The boy in it was pretty good but the directors daughter who played his sister was great.

I wonder if they're going to carry on and do the next 12 years?

Begin Again: Music film made by the guys who made Once. FYI - I hated Once, hated it with a passion, didn't ever want to hear that stupid song ever again and didn't ever want to see those two actors again. Begin Agan was an enjoyable film. Stars Keira Knightly as a singer song wriiter and Mark Ruffalo as an almost washed up producer/record label exec. They make an album around the streets of New York. Some drama ensues.

Saw interstellar last night, still not sure what to make of it but the trailer for that movie about Alan Turing look awesome.

I'm going to watching this movie in roughly 5 hours ... really looking forward to it.
-

"Some drama ensues."

You really should go pro as movie critic.
-

is that the spelling bee one with Jason Bateman?

-

Took the kids to the movies today, and because they will be seeing Big Hero 6 and Paddington during a school holiday programme, I drew the short straw and got to see Night at the Mueseum 3...was ok, some laughs, looked like it was garanteed to ne the last in the franchise, but they may have opened the door for Rebel Wilson to take it over from the awkward Ben Stiller.

Hmm Scarlett Johanson, you guys remember there was a cool poster on the fern that used to have a Scarlett J avatar... -

22 Jump Street. Even better than 21 Jump Street.

See from the Sony leaks that the next sequel is supposed to be a Men in Black crossover? Crazy enough to work. Maybe. -

The imitation Game: I thought this was bloody good, obviously they took some liberties with the 'true story' but that's to be expected with this type of movie - which might annoy some people but it didn't effect my enjoyment of it like The Butler. Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightly were bloody good (Knightly seems to have figured out how to act in the past couple of years) and the supporting cast were good as well.

I think it was a good overview of Turing without being a complete life story obviously.
-

Nope. Doesn't ring a bell. Must've stopped posting -

Movies i watched on holiday

Edge of Tomorrow: Fucking awesome until the last 2 minutes.

Lone Survivor: Guns! Black Hawk Down in the mountains. Makes falling down mountains look not very hazardous

22 Jump Street: Stupid movie with 2 scenes so funny i cried with laughter.

Paddington: As said earlier, top kids movie

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Thought this was bloody good actually, great action film, if a little heavy on the obvious imagery.
-

If you have boys, take them to see "Big Hero 6" it's wildly entertaining.

Finally caught "The Wrestler" the other night. Bleeeeaaak. Nice titties. Bloody good movie actually.
-

The Equaliser - Denzel Washington, Martin Csokas

Great popcorn action flick, lotsa shooting, blowing shit up, fighting, just a bit more eye-candy and it woulda been awesome!

I hope they dont, but ended like they were setting it up for a sequel+ kinda deal...
-

Battleship - it's what it says on the tin. Loads of action, loads of bullshit and loads of CGI. Enjoyable.

American hustle - typical academy awards nominee. Deep, well acted but a pretty boring story overall. Thought Bradley cooper was horribly miscast.
-

I genuinely liked it. Not quite so preposterous as to have you shaking your head saying tone it down a bit.

Watched that Lucy movie. As suspected it got rapidly worse to the point it was a steaming pile of shit at the end. Pity, because the underlying premise could have been good.

One more review: Predestination. Think Six Monkeys + Looper + Crying Game.
