Movie review thread...

Blade - some of the special effects havent aged well, but given it isnt heavy with them, didnt detract from overall viewing, still a good film

Dawn of the Dead ( 2004 version )
Really good flick of it's kind considering some of the utter crap that the genre has provided us. Possibly the first flick with "running" Zombies I ever saw which adds to the fear factor immensely. Ving Rhames good as ever, I also liked the hot blond chick who isn't in movies any more ( Sarah Polley is her name, outstanding rack ) and some decent if very cliched supporting characters.
Nice and gory too.
4 twitchers out of 5 living folk
Great film, watched it again at Easter. Phil Dunphy is good at playing an arsehole.
Sarah Polley was great in Go too.

@MN5 yep, over her objections!! Although having seen Hathaway's rack I'd take the chance!!

@Nepia Fargo is humorous...this was not, it also failed in its attempt to be like Fargo.
Personally, I found it very humorous. It was worth the $10 I paid to see it so I was happy.
I can't figure Neeson out. His acting in Schindlers List is nothing short of sensational but did he figure it was smarter to go for the easy route of playing the same "washed up but has some old school skills" character in every movie instead ?
Compare his output to Daniel Day Lewis's for example.
At least Neeson isn't grossly overrated.
Yes he is. DDL has 3 Oscars and probably should have more. Neeson can't even do an American accent properly.

Neesons performance as Oskar Schindler is exceptional but he hasn't gotten close since....still if he's being paid a fortune he probably doesn't care too much.
I can accept his accent shitness in the exact same way I can accept Sean Connery playing any ethnicity under the sun with an extremely Scottish brogue. It works for me.

I just won't hear any bad words against DDL. The guy is the farking GOAT.

Steady on. It's bad enough he got two Oscars for playing the same character.

Christie Brown and Abraham Lincoln?
Genuinely made me laugh.
Daniel Plainview, Abraham Lincoln and William Cutting all have the same mannerisms, tone, inflection etc. The same criticism I make of other "huge" actors.

I'll take Bill and Dan but not Abe. That was a very different role imho. But you still have Hawkeye, Gerry Conlon, Boxer dude, gay dude, Phantom Thread Dude. Not many guys can convincingly play those roles and he nailed them all.

I agree on the bolded, and that's where he became a ham for me. I thought he was good as Lincoln though.

Those roles, pre the ham were great, I'd have been 100% in your camp then, I haven't seen The Phantom Thread.
