@Jaguares4real it's a clear yellow all day, and getting towards a red. Lions player swung around ... I'm not a fan of players going down like a sniper hit them, but I think it's pretty ugly.
I'm astonished anyone would try to claim with a straight face that's a penalty at best.
I was trying to say the Lions player swung around the neck of TJ; for that not to be a yellow, it's got to be clearly and consistently below the shoulders. It's a pretty bad tackle, really don't know how it wasn't a yellow.

It wasn’t a yellow because Peyper got tangled up in his thought process. When the tackle was mentioned he was busy deciding no penalty try as the try had been scored anyway.
Completely missed the point that he should have gone back and punished the high shot as he would have in a non scoring movement.
Did the TMO say anything? -
@Crucial I didn’t see it but posters above stated TMO told Peyper penalty only no card.
Hence Peyper didn’t review it. I’m sure he would have carded if he did tho. By protocol, Peyper didn’t actually mess up and kept the game going. So in my view, he’s cleared of fault.

Let me think........TMO wasn’t a Staffa by any chance?

He did review it. He reckoned that it was only a penalty and since a try had been scored no punishment was warranted. Iirc the TMO simply grunted his approval. Sorry dodgy af.

not quite as bad as this one, which was a Red Card when they weren't as quick to hand out cards...when oyu are running and someone makes that contact with you, pretty tough to play act getting taken out as suggested above.

Hulk Hogan would be proud to call that his own

That is a shocker. How many weeks did he get for that?
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel 3 IIRC...with a support runner and Fritz the last line of defence, shoulda been a penalty try too...no, I havent let it go.

Only 3 for that? FFS. That Saffa who told a mamma joke got 6. That was more damaging than getting your head taken off apparently. What a joke.

@Rancid-Schnitzel it was 2010...

Hardly the dark ages. 3 weeks for that in 2010 is weak as piss.

That’s really disappointing for Peyper.

Sheesh.
Wasn't a yellow card ...
It's an orange card. On a good day it's a yellow and on a bad day it's a red. Are you telling me it wasn't a card at all?

This incident is a great example of where SANZAR (and WR) get it so wrong around transperancy.
Occasionally it filters through months down the track that a decision was incorrect (eg No-arms Farrell) but when they mouth off so much about protecting the head etc etc then make no comment on something like this we are left to wonder.
Often the only clue is the appointments the following week which is the default method for 'punishing' refs and TMOs
Edit: Have checked and Peyper has the weekend off but the TMO and ARs are both appointed.

No.
Not a yellow card though. (IMO)
