    I think they aren’t as strong as rugby’s rules , we need to get him in a sevens game to keep him from ever wearing yellow jersey .

    Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the Aussie sevens have scored themselves one of the young sprinters. Too lazy to look up his name -it's the guy with the massive thighs. Looking forward to seeing how he goes.

    So Edward Osei-Nketia, won an aussie 100m final last night qualifying him for a world event later in the year.

    But what is probably bigger news, is kiwi girl, Zoe Hobbs won the female 100m final as well (bigger news in that the hype would lead many to believe Edward was gonna win this, while many probably never heard of Zoe)

    Stuff

    @taniwharugby
    I assume NZR will be chasing him if he can't go any further with his sprinting. Our 7s team has been lacking a proper speedster.

    Given the option I'd love him to go the the Olympics for sprinting but not sure if his times are at the highest global level even accounting for his age.

    An off-season with the Jamaican programme should fix that.

    @mofitzy_ an 18yr old white kid in the US broke a 30yr record with 9.98 earlier this year.

    I hope the IAAF got paid shedloads for Doha to host the world champs.

    Doubt it's enough, though.

    Forgot this championship was on. Totally overshadowed by RWC.

    World Championships should have happened weeks ago and somewhere with a better climate for running and some fans to fill the stands.

    @MN5 I think that record was set when jonah was at the blues, not sure about overlap with joeili or rupeni tho

    I dunno if Rupeni had as much top end speed, he did get run down by a lock years ago which shocked everyone but obviously the power, step and swerve were amongst the best we've ever seen.

    When he was fit he was as fast as anybody. That was a small window though

    Yeah that 2003 season is probably still the best single season I've ever seen from a wing. The one handed pickup vs the Brumbies where he's running at full pace in the wet when others were struggling to just hold the ball is a particular favourite.

    My favourite try of his. He glided back then.

    Electric atmosphere in the stands just before the women's 100 metre final:
