Todd was better in the second half as the game opened up but did bigger all in the coal face in the first half.

@KiwiMurph That probably applies to most ABs.

If anything, all the handling errors killed the few opportunities we had.

Whilst I agree with that. Todd is just one one of those solid reliable players - he probably ain't going to win you a match - or lose you one. I like a little more excitement in my life.

@Kirwan That's the thing. His stats may look good but as most of us know, they don't tell the full story. Not hating on Todd, he's a solid journeyman who's been a good servant for Canterbury rugby and always given his best for the ABs when given an opportunity, but Savea and Cane are miles ahead of him and there's no need to persisit with Todd anymore. I would have liked to have seen Papali'i given more than 3 minutes out there as well.

Surprised by the lack of love for BFA. He, BBBR and Coles for me.

@Bovidae BFA was easily caught by loose forwards, that's the problem most of us see. Slow

@Machpants I'm not saying he was at the top of his game but far from the worst back. I can't pick BB due to his goal-kicking woes.

Just skimmed thru the 2nd half - watched the 1st live. Weird game.

BB, Coles and TJP for me. Aaron Smith also impressed.

SBW. The papers said it was a ‘magic’ pass.

Also didn’t get injured or sent off.

Yes, it was all about that "magic" pass. Skinning the defence centemetres from the sideline had nothing to do with it. That really is next level banboi.

@MiketheSnow same for me. Footwork from Coles and Anton got us through that rush D.

I actually thought it wasn't a great pass but I had had a couple of wines (whines) by then.

It was a terrible pass. He had Beauden on his outside screaming for the ball and he threw it a couple of feet above his head. Thankfully Beauden had the skills to haul it in without losing too much pace to enable him to still take the space on the outside.

Went with BB, Coles and A Smith. BB was sensational, his kicking is always hit and miss but without him we lose that game, probably by a bit.

Coles and A Smith both had a huge impact off the bench. Taylor/Coles and TJP/A Smith combos are a real point of difference for us.

SBW is simultaneously overrated in the media and underrated on here. Quite amusing.

It was not a terrible pass at all - it was the perfect time to throw the cutout pass as there was space on the outside - it was slightly high but was nicely weighted and allowed Beaudie to run on to the ball.

I think that's a bit harsh on him. Both times, he was significantly behind the advantage line when he got the ball, thus reducing the ground the Bok loosies (I think both times it was Kwagga - who is rapid in any event) had to cover to tackle him. Only Rieko skins the cover defence in such a situation, IMO.

I was at the game, and it might have been the most lacklustre one I've seen for a long while. So many players were average, the first half was littered with handling errors. The second half was better, the double pivot strategy showed signs of promise. Not our best game but I wonder if the coaches used the game to probe the saffa defence to assess their tendencies for later. Shag has earned my trust, this is a stepping stone toward the ultimate goal #trusttheprocess
