    @98blueandgold Why are there only 13 players? Am I misreading this completely?

    I’m reading it as 8 starters plus 5 subs.

    @KiwiMurph

    From the article:

    "The switch was flicked as soon as we woke up Sunday in Perth. There were guys on their computers at 9am looking at their games, at ways to get better. The whole trip home was trying to recover best so we woke up this morning in good shape to attack the week."

    This either shows they are serious or, if they don't win well on Saturday, it's paper-tiger time.

    Interesting it was Coles and Cane fronting up. Hopefully Read is saying something similar behind the scnes.

    @Victor-Meldrew if only it said

    "The switch was flicked as soon as we woke up Sunday in Perth. There were guys on their computers at 9am looking at team mates to blame for the loss. The whole trip home was spent pointing fingers so we knew who to attack this week."

    Well let’s see what happens, talk is cheap,

    I still believe if this forward pack can pull the finger , we have the best backs in the world if they click, to take advantage of that.

    ......... But there were two ifs in that statement:)

    @akan004 I expect it is normally a different mindset that the ABs take into matches than desperate, however, this week I would say desperate is very apt.

    Who are these best backs in the world you talk of? I don’t see them.

    When in doubt, don't blame terrible tactics, selections or leadership. Blame the players lack Iacking passion.

    I call bullshit on that. The players we have are players that repeatedly perform.

    The ABs have a stupid game plan that isn't working. It's the coaches, not the players.

    @Chester-Draws My thoughts exactly. If you’re wearing an All Black shirt and you’re not fired up for a Bledisloe Cup match a month out from the World Cup, you need your pulse checked. These are all professional sportsmen at the highest level. They know what’s required. I find it hard to think it is anything else than poor communication and a lousy game plan that the players themselves don’t believe in.

    “Out-passioned”. A much used phrase, everyone talks about it, but no one really knows what the hell it is. One of the great enigmas of world sport.

    We certainly didn't dominate the tackle area. Did aussie suddenly get bigger and stronger than us or was their will simply greater than ours?

    I'm with George Gregan, it's over rated in top level professional sport.

    I am actually a little disappointed in this response. And it sort of points to the fact that what Steve Hanson says in public has very little in relation to what goes on behind closed doors.

    We weren't hungry enough etc is a bullshit line that really means their prep wasn't up to standard. Exacerbated by playing an entire half a man down

    Really it boils down to a few simple things - did our players do their job? And if they did, well we have cattle issues. If they didn’t then they simply do their job and the Aussies took advantage. And this game was easy to see that because they had so much ball to expose it.

    Did our players play to a game plan? ....tumbleweeds...

    In most team sporting contests there a moments or periods of momentum and that gathers as the game ebbs and flows. From my armchair OZ took their chances and when they sniffed blood and like @mariner4life said, being down a man definitely opens more chances.

    Maybe out-passioned is shorthand for: "despite on a conscious level accepting that we needed to be at the top of our game, subconsciously we were thinking it's only the Wallabies look how shit they are and were surprised by the ferocity of their attack. We kept on thinking they will blow themselves out but it never happened. Plus some of us know we're on the plane to Japan and don't want to pick up an injury. Shouldn't be a factor but.... Then Scooter had his brain fart and"

    Thought the Aussie bench was key - you had to replace Goodhue early and it wasn't the kind of game Laumape has a lot of experience with.

    But when Coleman, Tupou, and Slipper came on, they fucking ripped in. Jones only get a few minutes but made a key carry in that time prior to Beale's try. Fainga'a also nailed his lineout throws and did his job around the park.

    Prior to that, Latu didn't do anything stupid, which helps.

    Thought Genia was a step down from White - that fucking aimless midfield box kick was poo. Rather have Gordon.

    I was with you until this. Gordon over Genia? That's a dumb opinion to have. Genia is still one of our best four or five players.

    The box kick was on, it just sat up a bit too much. If it takes a kick and rolls into the corner it's a smart move with less than 10 minutes to play.
