The Gatland factor for me is over ridden by the amount of shit Welsh fans could heap on their neighbours for the next four years.

I'm OK with Wales, France (they can play very good rugby, and the fans I've met are very respectful). That's it

Oh and they would. Very important that they don't beat us though or they will be heaping the shit on me - which means that we would need to lose a semi final - if we get that far.

Really is just easiest and best all round that we win it. Wales can lose in the final if they want.

There’s no scenario in which I’m comfortable with Wales beating us. The thought of them humiliating Krustys team in a final pleases me though .

France is the only team I want us to lose to in a final. They are the only team that regularly dissolves the aura at RWC time. BTW, that doesn't mean I want us to lose the final!!

Yeah the more I think about post game interviews and images of Gatland winning makes me want England to win it before Wales.

England are usually my no.2 team when it comes to RWC’s anyway, but they are so temperamental as a side that other than 03 I have never thought they were an actual chance to win.

the more I think about it, the harder this RWC looks to win for any team. Looking like three really tough matches for most people, and they will be tight, uncompromising efforts. Whoever falls over the line will have damn well earned it I reckon

I agree. Even those that have been ‘favourites’ and gone on to win have done so under tough circumstances.

there will be one game where the ultimate cup winner wins by the skin of their teeth, and that game is in doubt all the way.

a pox on you sir 🙂

I do hope the Boks and AB's play each other twice this RWC. First game, and last game.

    Anybody but Wales.

Welsh fans are awful people. I probably think that as I see in them, what most people see in NZ fans.

I don't want Boks or Aus as then they would also have 3 cups, and I quite like us being ahead out on our own there. I wouldn't mind England or Ireland.

Anyone got the stats on how many times teams in the same pool have gone on to play each other in the knock out/final. 2011 ABs and France. Any others?

I remember watching the pool game, and never thought we'd see England in final after spanking they took.

@pakman It was some turnaround from that game and then the one v the US to get anywhere in that tournament. We were dogshit in the pool games.

@Catogrande not only some turnaround, but damn near won the comp. Puts all the firm and planning into perspective.

SA had Fiji and Argentina I think in knock outs leading up to the final. I'd take that run any day of the week

The pool game was England without Wilkinson and the final was with him wasn't it? I didn't watch it , in fact I don't think there was a rwc in 2007

What are you whinging about 😉 Me and a French mate had tickets to the final. We still went, despite flirting with the idea of selling the tickets on.

I reckon England would have won that game if the try had been given.
