Will reply with more tomorrow, but thank fuck for that.

We were sitting behind the goalposts and due to the shit cell phone service, I couldn’t catch up with @Smuts (sorry!)

Nevertheless, a fascinating game to watch from the the nosebleeds - SA going up the middle through Faf kicks - some of which were really not dealt with well, versus us trying to go around them (mostly without success) unless we had first softened them up in the middle of the park.

The first twenty were very scary. Incredible defense, but fuck these Boks know what they are trying to achieve. The game plan is so 2009, it’s not funny. Given the wingers we picked, I understand why they went that way - tonight our bomb squad was really fucking average. We nail that and they would have had not much else...

It was really interesting to be able to predict when our kicks would work or not - there is lots of ‘fake’ space out there - some were awesome, but some were just kicking it back to them - why? Shit chasing too, in some instances.

Overall, a very good win against a well-drilled side who I expect to go deep. Thank god for one good kick and ALB’s quick feet.

Some class by Ardie at the end there. Were they praying together or was it commiserations?

I enjoy seeing clowns like that thrashwanking about refs favouring us .

The comments on the BBC website are a real hoot. Still banging on about Umaga & O'Cudda Doided.

But the winner has to be the clown who tells us the "New Zealand Rugby Team did a long Harka to intimidate Garces".

@gt12 no worries mate if you’re around for the game tomorrow we might make it work.

But I agree with your assessment. That was a very tight game that went to the side who used their chances. As it should be.

Faf's kicking was pretty shit eh, lucky for us. It annoys me now though how refs ignore the offside law for box kicks, especially ones that go straight up. Faf kicks it, runs straight back, forwards stand around or run forward and never get put onside, no worries.

Interesting to see that scrum where we went well and truly backwards near the end was the only one I saw Read at 8.

That headless chook stuff was weird at the start of the match, especially all the fucking around that Smith was doing.

Did I understand Hansen correctly that Cane passed the HIA but the officials still forced him to be subbed?

Also, on rewatch Savea took a few high shots, don't think any looked intentional but regardless.

Saying a ref favours the ABs is pretty disrespectful to all of the professional refs. For starters that Barnes game and the Lions non offside penalty are two howlers that cost us big time.

Tbh I think it’s swings and roundabouts, If I gave a bigger fuck I would go through the game and highlight the poor calls against the ABs. From what I remember the penalty against Whitelock for interfering in the lineout was a shocker, in replay he makes an effort to avoid the bok lock. The non card cynical tackle at start could have been pivotal. Lots of higher shots missed. Lots of offside missed.

In fairness I am bias so no doubt plenty ABs stuff missed too, however overall things even themselves out.

Richie lived with the cheating barbs his entire career, those arseclowns with Kearns as their leader can choke on the results.

To do with timing according to reports. He passed the test but the rules state he must do so within 10 minutes of leaving the pitch. I think that because they called him aside at half time the 10 minutes was up.
Shag and Shand have already spoken to tournament officials to clarify and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

it happens in pretty much every code ,

people say the ref or other factors favor the better team, '

it just helps them deal with the reality, their team isnt up to the same standard

I'd forgotten about that lineout pen. How weird was that? Bok lifters literally throw their jumper over the AB side and Whitelock tries to duck out of the way, gets penalised.

Another interesting observation was the penalty against the ABs for holding on with titsoff? Over the ball. I agree with it but it appeared from the replay he made no effort to actually grab the ball, it appeared his objective was to stay on his feet over the ball to win the penalty, which is smart play.

It’s almost as if you should rename the penalty to ineffective clean out.

I think the penalty was against Patty T who took a lifter out. But you never know with Garces.

One non-call that pissed me off was a high tackle on Ardie where the Bok player had him in a headlock.

Delighted to win. ALB was magical tonight. Moody made a lot of tackles. BB's passing for the Bridge try and Coles' pass before Scotty Barrett's try were excellent. Discipline the best for a long time.

Looked a bit rusty still. Some confusion in attack and we gave away a very soft try. Lots to work on before the knock outs.

Oh ok I missed that, but yeah that headlock and the shoulder in head in Aus game are two glaring misses in an area they are pedantic about.

Just read elsewhere the officials missed the clear knock on by Kolbe when he throws ball forward before going into touch, BB runs it out from goal line and subsequent play we pass it to the SA player in our backline. Should have been our advantage and back for knock on.
