@Bovidae Yeah - they'll have no flexibility to change the RWC semifinal time - but, if they don't change the M10 final time they will get justifiably torched by every media commentator who has ever said they don't care about the NPC.

It sort of beggars belief that this sort of clash wouldn't be the first thing you'd look at when doing the scheduling.

@Chris-B given the 2011 RWC started earlier than this one and the M10 Cup (ITM at the time) final was 03 and 04 September....

They should've moved some of the round robin games too

I doubt 7:30pm games are rating well against RWC matches

Midday, 2pm & 4pm would make more sense for Saturdays than 2:30, 5pm & 7:30pm. Currently the last two matches clash completely with the RWC.
Earlier matches would minimise the overlap

The reason I posted this was that a friend informed me that the Waikato-Taranaki game next Sunday (4:35 pm start) clashes with the NZ-Namibia game. So late M10 games on Sat and Sun will clash with early games at the RWC. Matches played the following weekend will be the same, including the Wellington-Waikato game with the NZ-Italy test.

Last year the Auckland-Canterbury final was played earlier at 4pm nz time and did not clash with the ABs v Wallabies test in Japan later that night (7pm nz time).

I would imagine this year they will do something similar.

If a player gets a massive ban during the cup, can you swap him out of the squad?

It's also worth remembering SKY's role in kickoff times. They might want to keep an original time to chip into Spark Sport's numbers. But given the insignificance of M10 Cup compared to RWC they probably think it's not worth fighting and shift the final to a 7am ko to ensure they have as many viewers as possible.

There are specific regulations around props and hookers so barring those being met, I don’t think so.

If Sky somehow think they'd be able to stop more than a handful of provincial diehards switching over to watch an AB RWC semi then they're delusional.

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Thomas du Toit will make a mad dash from France to replace prop Trevor Nyakane in South Africa’s Rugby World Cup squad after the latter tore his calf in Saturday’s opening 23-13 loss to New Zealand in Yokohama.

Nyakane, who recently made the switch from loose-head to tight-head prop, lasted just 21 minutes as a replacement in the Pool B defeat before needing to be helped from the field in obvious discomfort. "It’s very tough on Trevor," Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said. "He has had a great season and added value whenever he took the field. "It’s a blow to him and the team, but it’s also an opportunity for Thomas and Vincent (Koch), who now have the chance to step up."

Du Toit had signed a short-term deal to play for French Top 14 side Toulouse during the World Cup, but is now expected to link up with the Bok squad at their training base in Nagoya on Tuesday afternoon. The 24-year-old won the last of his 10 caps in the 24-18 victory over Argentina in Pretoria on Aug. 17, which was also his only international start.

@Machpants If you look closely it's actually animated slightly. Pretty cool though.

It came from the RWC Facebook page.

A really interesting video on how many foreign born players are in each squad at RWC.

here is a screengrab showing the total number of players born in a country that are representing another country at RWC. Shows just how many players the NZ conveyor belt produces.

Do you swap out an eagle for another giraffe when Jordie is playing?

Yeah. One of the flankers should have been a Puma or Panther.
