To be honest I saw one flying during the ABs parade and it looked quite good 
Not convinced that it represents NZ yet though.

National flags are not usually in your face type designs
 
They are more subtle so we can create meaning as we see fit
 
But the colors are spot on. Black and white essential with black in a key position by the flag pole
 
And red in the power position with white between red , black and blue. It's a great design that ticks all the flag design boxes.

Winger, I was slowly coming around on my own terms to the possibility that this is OK. The moment someone starts trying to convince me of it so it justifies their own opinion I back off again. 
This us where a campaign thing is all wrong. Just let a slow burn happen.

I like the campaign.
And I wish more people would take an interest in what's going on in the world or country rather than letting it all pass them by. This more than anything else causes so much grief. We are collectively mostly too naive and too lazy to take the time to investigate anything much.

I don't mind the red flag that much but we've already got a flag that is easily identifiable as 'NZ' yet it's not in the running, and as I said earlier I don't really care what happens from here because of its exclusion - but this thread has been funny viewing nonetheless.

No I'm not. I gave up on doing this a long time back. Others do it but in a lot more subtle, effective, way than me. I can't do subtle and don't bother trying anymore.
 
If red peak wins this vote it will have nothing to do with me. Maybe the opposite.

Most flags are bland and boring. I agree that the 'represent us' part is way to subtle though and needs explaining to people rather than being a stylised pic of something we feel says NZ.
 
of all the flags out there I still actually really like the Tino Rangatiratanga flag and think it is a pity that its position as the 'Maori Flag' means that many NZers wouldn't accept a change to it. It is simple, includes 'our colours' and has that small bit of uniqueness that makes it ours.
 
Aside from that, like others, I am pissed of we have not been offered the option of the de facto NZ flag of a simple fern design. Even the perceived issues around a black flag could have been worked around. A 'copy' of the Canadian flag using black and white as colours with a black centre panel and white fern would be different enough to the 'sports flag' that it is more widely acceptable.
