A few names in then NZ XI squad that are not all that familiar
Katene Clarke has played in the NZ Under 19s as a batsman and a couple of NZ XI games last season against the Lankans (40 off 53 ball in 8 boundaries) in one of those games where you can mix and match 16 players a side and the Bangles with 19 off 18 bin our 2 wicket win
Blake Coburn (Canterbury) - a left arm chinaman bowler who also played in the above two matches taking 4/44 + 2/77 and 2/92 from 24 overs respectively
Brett Hampton - Nth Districts all rounder who has been on the first class scene for the last three or four seasons. Bowls right hand fast medium
Christian Leopard CD player out of Napier Tech Old Boys CC with three Plunket Shield games behind him - a batting all rounder.

Is the NZ XI an official team? If not, perhaps this was an opportunity to select Conway.

Why??? He cannot represent NZ. Why let him use up a spot?

I don't think that many in the team are realistic chances to make the NZ side either so it was just to have a look at him to see if all the praise was justified.

Conway is from SA but is 28.

England looks to have changed their team around as ginga Bairstow got plenty of runs in the 1st game.

Looks close enough to me for the benefit of the doubt to be given to the batsmen.

@Hooroo Shame they weren't around forty odd years ago. That would have seen a complete rewriting of record books, particularly for the visiting cricket teams in India and Australia (and occasionally NZ!) and rugby teams in South Africa (not to mention Cardiff Arms Park in 1905)

Whitney would have been given out, Sneddon"s catch would have been awarded...
