I saw Heineken light for 16.49 a half doz in the supermarket the other day. Not only is that a ridiculous price I was reliably informed on social media that it tasted awful too. 
I'm sure there is decent light beer out there it's just a case of actually finding it.

If you are out for a couple and have to drive, do not, I repeat, DO NOT bother with Heineken Light, quite possibly the worst Light beer I have tried.

Tuatara Iti is one of the best light beers I've tried (3.3%). 
Brew Punk Dead Pony (terrible names) is good too.

unfortunately a lot of bars (well the ones I have been to up here and a few in Auckland) while providing a decent range of full strength beers, seem to go with one or 2 of Amstel Light (drinkable) Speights Mid-Ale (drinkable) whatever the Steinie and Macs versions are, or now, the Heinie one.
 
I saw the Tuatara one when I was buying someone some craft beer for Xmas on Tuesday....might have to go back :)

Panhead may well have produced THE BEST IPA I've ever had. Fuck a duck it's a great drop. Must try their stout when I get a chance too. 
Conversely ParrotDogs Red was really disappointing.

Tuatara's American Pale Ale and 8 Wired's West Island Ale are both very good.

Tim, I don't like that APA. Apart from it being stronger than tequila, I wasn't stoked with the taste. But then again, I tend to not like APA's as a rule

I loved all the Christmas real ales over here, most pubs had different ones. As they often had short runs, you'd need to get lucky finding a good one twice though.

Yeah I got me a kit just before Xmas (was a package thing and was a Cider kit) and my first brew supposed to be ready for drinking Monday...the kits are pretty fool proof TBH, although I expect I will ruin plenty of brews experimenting too much

Follow the recipes to an absolute tee and don't get too clever early on or else you're just wasting time and will end up disappointed.

Shit, it's been hot even in the nations capital, haven't any of you fluffybunnys drunk any beer over the summer ????? judging by the lack of action on this thread perhaps not......
 
Gonna be a few weeks til I go brewing again, one brewery I'm getting into is "Rocky Knob" based in the Mount so the label tells me. You can grab a 1.25 litre bottle for 17.99 and their APA and IPA are particularly good.
 
Also if you get a chance have a look at the ridiculous selection that Garage Project have.....with the prices to match......I mean how do you possibly choose from such a convoluted list ?

Sad fuck that I am I just wrote down all the beers I have tasted in the last three days in Colorado. Seriously, there are more breweries here than mountains. My list is at 34 already and I have 11 days to go.
