The Last Thing he Wanted on Netflix.

Watched this last night over dinner. It goes for about two hours. Based on a book. I couldn't tell you at any point what it was about as I seemed to be watching without paying any attention. That was the effect it had.

I'd describe it as having a script more than a plot. Bored the shit out of me.

"Stars" Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck, Willem Dafoe. Directed by Dee Rees. No doubt criticism is proof of a sexist, racist paradigm.

I think I’ve seen that advertised and thought it looked poos , either Affleck puts me off seeing a movie add Hathaway into the mix and I’ll pass .

@antipodean I just 'watched' this. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Made no fucking sense whatsoever, literally everything was random with people showing up and disappearing/getting killed at will. I actually laughed at the end (although I suspect I was supposed to be shocked beyond reason.) If I could give less than 0/5, I would.

@Mokey It's clear to me now that the rush for content has lead to Netflix throwing vast sums at garbage and "big name" actors are just dialling it in.

@antipodean it's production decisions based on big data. Enough people watch the right things and it turns into a probability of success.

Adam Sandler has done well recently out of the genre of "crap movies where the actors phone it in, but they somehow seem to make money" on Netflix.

I feel that way about Jurassic World 2. I get angry every time I think of it. Although some of it is due to the fact that Jurassic World is actually a fun movie (even with the high heeled running).

Asylum movies make money and propped up Syfy for years, I guess people like what they like. It's clear that Sandlers films get watched as Netflix keep giving him movie deals.

At least I know not to watch the Anne Hathaway one now. Although I did try to watch 6 Underground so my Netflix choices are iffy some times.

I watched the trailer and it looked unbelievably stupid. That was enough.

If Ryan Reynolds wasn't in it, it would've gone straight to the bargain bin.

It was stupid, but was very watchable. A few reasons, but a major one being:

Outrage Coda - Beat Takeshi gangster film.

This is the last in the trilogy. Didn't really need to be made and its pretty shit compared to the other 2. Lots of characters without any depth. Lots of strange pacing and plot twists for no reason.

2 Underbosses our of 5 Yakuza

    Bone Tomahawk

Excellent movie. It's like nothing I have seen before. It's like Unforgiven in its pacing. SLow and deliberate but without the needless sentiment or buddy film humour. This is not for everyone and there are scenes in this movie that are terrifying.

    This is a 5 out of 5

@raznomore thank you for the recommendation for this. I'm a big fan of good westerns and had been looking for one recently, so I watched this yesterday after I read your review.

I have to completely agree with your review, really enjoyed it but several very tough scenes to watch including the opening scene and the "dinner prep".

For Aussie Ferners, it's showing on SBS On Demand

I can't stop watching The Green Book. It is now firmly in my top 5 ever. I'm not sure what fall out. Perhaps Pump Up The Volume, purely due to age and haven't seen it in years

    JUmanji: Next Level

Thought this was good, the cast all have great chemistry, just a bit of good fun, doesnt take itself too seriously.

4 smoulders out of 5 new abilities

Harry Potter Series is classed as one to me.

It's hard to do a top five but Pump Up The Volume was in there for a long long time.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is in there. Tombstone too, I think.

Green Book is the new addition.

@Hooroo I used to love Pump Up The Volume, I was renting it often so dubbed a copy, leant it to my mate, he took it away in the school holidays to his bach and it never came back. Don't think I've seen it since then.

Always interesting to see peoples top lists, none of yours would dent my top 50 I think. I haven't even seen all the Harry Potters.

I'm not a movie aficionado like you are though so they would be a bit 'simpler'
