Not a great time to go on strike
Great time to go on strike. Perfect time probably. Just not great for rest of us
Well they live in society as well, so not in their best interests either.
Might have to pull a China and make the strike illegal temporarily
You could possibly call it a state of civil emergency? That may prevent them, but not entirely sure on that.
Force them to go to work. Even if they maintain that they're ill. And then hit them with cattle prods if their productivity isn't what you'd like.

I think the ole cattle prodder may have a test tube of virus biffed at him!

Seriously consider sacking some as well.

Can't do that in lil ole NZ if a union decides to strike.

In my mind that would be too extreme a thing to do.

Melbourne...
I see shit like that and fervently hope this virus is orders of magnitude worse than predicted.
I know this toilet paper is just the most ridiculous thing, but wouldn’t it be funny 2 years from now we are all looking back wishing we bought more TP because it’s now gone the way of the dinosaur..

An absurd thing to do. It's one thing to pay people a retainer for their services and expect they perform when when required, another altogether to arbitrarily decide that people who normally provide services can't withdraw their labour.

No less absurd than using a potential pandemic as a bargining tool for your compensation.
Am sure there have been examples of temporary measures to ensure the public safety in the past. It's all moot anyway, this government is directly funded by the unions, so they would never even consider it.
-
I'm no fan of unions, but if this is true then you really can't blame them:
Despite APEX's laboratory scientist members holding university qualifications, they earn 12 percent less than a similarly qualified, registered nurse. They also earn more than 7 percent less than identically-qualified colleagues working alongside them, but on a different employment agreement, according to the press release.

Looks like the panic has now extended to the markets.

Buy in tranches on the dips.

@Catogrande you make it sound foolproof!
Funny, I studied finance and economics and did a CFA, yet the one thing they never really teach you is the effect of these huge global macro events, both positive and negative. Makes the minutiae of stock price evaluation seem pointless sometimes.

@voodoo just cross your fingers and pray for reversion to mean 😎
That's one way. I went for the other option which is to get a wife and 3 kids and a big old mortgage and private school expenses that leave minimal excess cash to spend on day trading 😅
