-New US / Canada trade agreement that protects the US worker from cheap slave labor imported parts. So Canada imports from China and assemble a product that use to qualify as Canadian made
The rules on assembly from 3rd-party countries in FTA's ("screwdriver factories") are pretty standard parts of any trade deal and have been for decades. Trump simply negotoiated a bog-standard trade deal.
-Exposing the fake news media
I agree that much of the reporting on Trump from the MSM has been fake news, but it's more the media exposed themselves than Trump doing anything other than wind them up.
Trump has certainly showed a lot more back-bone than Obama in foreign policy (though I'd argue that wouldn't be hard), has rightly called out the EU on its protectionist trade policy and his corporate tax reforms have merit.
But overall, he's been pretty poor at delivery - particularly since the Covid crisis hit.

Oh fuck off. Donald Trump is the very archetype of the powerful elite. He’s made no personal sacrifice. He’s got no concept of service or duty. He’s a bullshitter with an inheritance and a massive ego, who sucks in dimwits to believing his confidence tricks.
So not much different to Biden then - sadly for US voters

I've never heard him refer to POWs as losers because heroes don't get caught, amongst other things

I could counter that at least Trump hasn't stolen a speech trom Neil Kinnock (yes, that Neil Kinnock) either.
But I won't.....

@JC his rogan podcast is illuminating. He forms arguments and explanations for all the things we suspect but can't figure out.
And it's too late. Lots of suffering and frustration coming up for the western world.WTF? Can't figure that one out?
What he has tweeted as if some kind of revelation is the core of why we are always in a constant balancing game.
Of course equality creates an even playing field where some will win and others will lose. The hard part is then keeping control of the negative effects of that.
What is the alternative? A feudal system? We threw that one out a long time ago because the disparity between ordained winners and losers gets unsustainable in that the 'losers' don't have an opportunity to be winners.
This so called 'woke war' is from extremities and from the middle trying things out to keep balance. It happens the other way around at times as well e.g the 'greed is good' periods of history that afford an uplift in overall wellbeings but can create social problems.
Yes, by all means some of the 'wokeness' is plain dumbfuckery, but so are some concepts from the 'other end'.
These things alone aren't our current problem. The highlighting of them and polarisation is.
Tweets like that don't help matters as they paint only one side as stupid which forces an equally dumb comeback. -
Meanwhile, Mr Trump is trying to prove his detractors in the 'Fake News' theory correct by turning on his buddies at Fox for pointing out facts (about his polling numbers) and telling his twitter followers to stop watching them.
'Fake News' in Trumps eyes is news he doesn't like.
“@FoxNews weekend afternoons is the worst! Getting into @CNN and MSDNC territory. Watch @OANN & @newsmax instead. Much better!”

@Crucial I don't think you know very much about James Lindsay's work. There's 3 hours of it on the podcast I referenced
But thanks for disseminating a tweetWell I can see that he is capable of making inflammatory tweets.
That doesn’t exactly make me want to track down listening to him speak. -

He has a perfectly valid hypothesis that he has posited in a thoughtful way, about what he sees as a systematic and ideologically driven attack on merit.
You didn’t address that, apart from a suggestion that merit equates to feudalism.
Instead you’d rather he shut up and didn’t say what’s on his mind, because it’s apparently inflammatory. Sorry Bud, but that’s your problem. Not his, not mine. But we’re not staying quiet because you think the conversation will trigger someone.

@Crucial
I agree with you that there is a tendency for one side to highlight the crazies on the other side and that this is inflammatory.
I should know, I do it myself. However, this far left wokeness seems a lot more than just a fringe view and a lot more than just trying things out as you say. It is a system of control of free speech that is becoming increasingly embedded in all sections of US society.
It has permeated corporations, the entertainment industry, formerly mainstream liberal newspapers, the education at the University level and the anti-Trump news outlets are all hopping on board because its a great angle from which to criticize him (amongst other things).
I see it as very dangerous precisely because so many influential forces are getting on board with it. It is becoming mainstreamed at the higher levels of society.
