    I’ve enjoyed the fact the refs have let some of that stuff go, also haven’t pinged players trapped in the ruck for not retreating etc

    Damn, the big question is not what is going on in Canterbury club rugby, nor whether Ruben Thorne is actually a worse coach than player, but whether these poor results have been caused by the fern just being too damn mean to Canterbury.

    Unless there is a change in laws, I don’t think the ref can do anything different but award a penalty.

    I have seen refs call the halfback out, and tell them to play on.

    There was plenty of standing and fist pumping at the end there

    pretty much seals Otago into a home semi.

    I know HB have an eye on the shield challenge next week, but they also have a home semi and possibly final to play for too

    Yeah, a conundrum for HB, all right. The team named to play BOP tomorrow is not full strength, probably with an eye on the Shield challenge next week.

    If Otago had lost to Canterbury last night then would probably get away with an understrength team v BOP and loss would not hurt their chances too much of finishing top. But now ....

    @taniwharugby Some knock-ons missed too.

    I wasn't happy that Pickerill rewarded Drummond for deliberately passing into a player bending down so the not straight from the resulting lineout was justice.

    Speaking of Drummond, he was shedding a tear at the end, such was his disappointment.

    Blame Gregan 😉

    Unless there is a change in laws, I don’t think the ref can do anything different but award a penalty.

    Disclaimer: I am a former halfback.

    Fuck that explains sooooo much

    His comments are usually better than Justin. Low bar, I know.

    You would expect an immediate repudiation of such a heinous claim aye.
    He has hundreds of children, so might just be busy.

    Good to see you acknowledging the fern is full of mean fluffybunnies, but I don’t think the fern caused the poor results. Canterbury are just a bit shit.

    @Crazy-Horse
    Could actually add that to our motto.

    Awful analysis, incorrect conclusions, zero insight
    Wrong about pretty much everything and full of mean fluffybunnies.

    I like it.

    Yes Canterbury are a bit shit - but don't take it personally. I now know how sensitive you coppers are.

    Rueben seems to be trying to mirror his playing career. I won't elaborate (and yes he was a better player than me and possibly a better coach).

    Yeah they are rather bland. Time will tell if it's the coach or the players or both. Something is not right down there. Any ferners from Christchurch care to share their views on what is going on?

    Maybe the Southland coach could be an answer? He's had success in Christchurch club rugby, IIRC?
