If you have the better spinners, you don't want a spinning pitch. A good pitch can make a mediocre spinner to be a really good one. In saying that our spinners did look a lot better than mediocre. It was good to see Ronchi get a few runs as well.

I thought how we bowled to Dhoni was superb. Zeroed into his pads and gave him little width to really unleash, which we know he can. I was quite confident going into this one. Huge pressure on India to win at home, our team is pretty high on confidence, plus the beige :)

It's Friday that I'm most concerned with. Despite out good record in the short forms vs OZ, I think the pressure will be on us.

He said on more than one occasion that there were a number of soft dismissals and that the Indians batsmen didn't adapt. That seems to be the party line from all the Indian commentators, i.e., we beat ourselves.

Boom destroyed the bangles by himself & now Gayle is doing it to the poms. Last chance to see 2 of the most perfectly suited T20 guys internationally I guess. Jeez they are both a good watch. The windies are 15 balls from a win or 1 wicket from a thrashing...

So less that 15 balls then. T20 all over, one guy can win it, England had 5 guys do OK, Windies one guy go mental

Depending on how up to date Gayles stats are, that was either his 17th or 18th T20 100. From memory it's around double the next guys.
To say he's done alright at T20 is a bit of an understatement.

Do they have better spinners though or do they just play more in favourable conditions?

Aswin (who is considered their best) record in NZ in 2014

1st ODI 10 overs 0 for 52, Nathan McCullum 10 overs 0 for 54

2nd ODI 8 overs 0 for 50, McCullum 8 overs 0 for 40

3rd ODI 10 overs 1 for 47, Mccullum 8 overs 1 for 39

4th ODI 10 overs 0 for 41, McCullum 10 overs 0 for 44

5th ODI 6 overs 0 for 37, McCullum 10 overs 1 for 37

Those figures hardly say he is a top quality spinner who is a threat in any conditions. In our conditions he appears no better than Nathan McCullum.

Maybe NZ should be trying to replicate sub continent pitches like in India next time the Aussies come rather than green tops.

Bit late to this - but what a stunningly good catch that was by NMac to dismiss Dhoni - took guts to dive forward like that.

Loved hearing the crowd during the highlights I watched - with Kohli and Dhoni were in, they were still in party mood and expecting to win, bit of a shocked silence when Kohli was out and then the next wickets fell so fast and they were out of the door.

Saw a bit of Gayle this morning - they needed 9 an over when I went downstairs to make a cup of tea, when I got back Gayle had taken Moeen for 3 consecutive 6s and it was a run a ball stroll.
