It's amazing how a cheating fluffybunny who turned into a fat alcoholic druggy became a national icon.... There's hope for us all!
Are we talking about Shane Warne again?

In Search of Dieguito. Martin Amis in 2004 on Diego Maradona.

@Machpants said in R.I.P. 2020:
So funny that the Brits voted his first goal in 86 the worst example of cheating in football ever, and the one he followed it with the best ever full stop
At least they can appreciate quality in the midst of being hosed

Still the best shit out, this video.
He was so good he played for Mars
-
Possibly not the most recognisable of faces but he did play the most iconic bad guy in movie history.
RIP Lord Vader

I always assumed that it was Prowse's face we saw in ROTJ when Luke took off Vader's mask. But it was actually this guy
Another tidbit I stumbled on, the guy who voiced and played the hologram Emperor Palpatine in ESB was a Kiwi
He was replaced by Ian McDiarmid in ROTJ

RIP Pat Patterson, 79. WWE Hall of Famer, first intercontinental title winner, inventor of the Royal Rumble, agent for Hogan-Warrior at WM6... A great wrestler, but one of the greatest wrestling minds ever, and possibly the greatest agent in pro wrestling history (an agent is an industry veteran who helps wrestlers plan out their matches).

@canefan Buggar. Just buggar.
A hero of mine. Might not have been the easiest of guys to get along with, and was quite outspoken, but shit did he do some amazing stuff. Buggar. RIP Chuck.
I've probably embellished this story in my head, but didn't he work out and prove by trying that at a certain speed over water (like just above the water) it wasn't possible to ditch your aircraft at that speed?
And he tried to do it (which would have killed him instantly if he was wrong)
Have you heard that?
Heard so stories of when he was in the war and over-ruled a wing commander (as a much lower ranked pilot) too I think (But I may be getting my folk heroes mixed up)
