Zack Snyder's Justice League
So I finally finished my rewatch, my Fern posting history suggests it has taken me 11 days. Even though it was likely 99% certain I wouldn't like this movie I'm actually surprised at how much I disliked it.
I don't have an issue with people liking this movie, and liking Zack's visual style etc but the people hailing this a masterpiece and voting it the best comic book movie ever are straight up taking the piss. The script issues are no different here than in the now reviled cinema version and the effects are arse.
The Good
I think Zack picked his cast really well bar one character I'll discuss in The Bad. The problem being I'd like to see them in films made by other directors (especially Cavill). I like Cavill, I like Batfleck, Gadot is still hot as fuck, Polynesian Aquaman was good even if they had that weird thing of him throwing his clothes int the water every time and Miller is good as the Flash even though I don't think he's as good as the similar TV version. I also like Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
The Bad
Ray Fisher was wooden as fuck. For all his smack talk on Twitter I was expecting an awesome performance from him, but he was the clear weak link. Maybe that's not a reflection on him and more to do with the Mo-Cap and bad visual effects that went into making him Cyborg?
99% of the time editors make movies better. This movie needed an editor. Every scene went on just a little bit too long.
Why ruin a completely decent emotional scene between Lois and Martha by having it be the Martian Manhunter when you're going to include him in the Epilogue anyway?
The visual effects/CGI were so shit. Why? The Madolorian shows you can make awesome real looking spaces with effects. So much of this film didn't look real to me, especially the big final battle which was just a dark CGI-fest with shiny Steppenwolf to light it up. The crappy effects were best illustrated by the mother boxes scene in the big battle: the boxes didn't look real, they were being held by a not real looking Cyborg who was attacked by a not real looking Steppenwolf.
How did they make Gal Gadot look like Leia in Rogue One when they did their stand together at the end of the big battle shot. When I watched the movie I just assumed it was inserted but then I saw them film it in the little Zack Snyder doco.
The low budget TV show manages to make the Flash running scenes more realistic than this super high budget movie.
Why so much slow-mo? I remember when Age of Ultron was given shit for slo-mo in its fight scenes in the opening. Every action scene in this movie had unnecessary slow-mo.
Why are people saying this longer running time made the story flow better? It didn't, and it added some completely unnecessary scenes as well.
The Rating
I think Chaos Walking might pip this for worst movie I've seen this year, but only just.
2 obviously I was never going to like this ... out of ... 5 but I really didn't think it would be this bad.
Good to get that rant off my chest, I probably don't have the energy to shit fight with you fanbois so you have free rein to heap shit on my opinion.

The concept just doesn't work on film, it was actually quite difficult to watch.

The Intern.
Robert De Niro in comedy mode. Sort of. This is exactly the sort of movie I'd expect to get panned, but I really enjoyed it. Perhaps because my wife is currently working huge hours in launching her business and so I could semi relate, but I think it's because it was simply a nice movie with a few basic laugh.
Easy watching, and just nice.
4 fat andy's from Modern Family out of 5 bad drivers.

American Ninja
I’m normally a fan of the so-bad-it’s-good action films pumped out by Cannon in the 80s. But damn, this one is next level shit. The acting, action, effects - everything - are horrendous. Even the inclusion of the incomparable Steve James (RIP) makes no difference. In fact it’s heartbreaking to watch him get his arse kicked by the worst leading action man in cinematic history. Seriously, Michael Dudikoff looks and acts like someone on Valium. He makes Arnie look like Daniel Day-Lewis.
And they made not one but three sequels to this! Christ on a bike.

I always got him and Michael Biehn confused. However the latter did have the distinction of starring in two of the greatest action/sci fi flicks in history before descending into B movie purgatory. As far as I know the former started there and remained there.

Bit harsh mixing a guy with some actual talent with the Dudikoff. Biehn did pop up again a few times. He was great in the Rock. Never really broke out though. Maybe it didn’t help that he was overshadowed by Arnie and Sigorny in his two biggest roles.
Dudikoff can actually be found as one of Tom Hanks’ degenerate mates in Bachelor Party. Not exactly action star pedigree.
His career is not going strong:

Was the American Ninja series as bad as the Iron Eagle series ? I just wikipedia’d the plot....
“When Col. Ted Masters' (Tim Thomerson) plane goes down in an Arab country and he's sentenced to death for trespassing, his 18-year-old son, Doug (Jason Gedrick), is determined to save him. Unfortunately, Doug isn't the best fighter pilot -- he wasn't accepted into the Air Force because he needs to listen to music in order to hit a target. So he enlists the help of Col. Chappy (Louis Gossett Jr.) to borrow a couple of F-16 planes, fly across the Atlantic and start a rescue mission”
Beihn also starred in an episode of Mando which I completely forgot, did a good job of that too.

Ok, forget any 80s shite posted so far.....we have an undeniable winner here....@Rancid-Schnitzel check out the horrific fight scene in the first minute.....

Iron Eagle was another “classic”. I haven’t seen it in ages but it at least had cool fighter jets and LG Jr. American Ninja should actually be called Ninja Holocaust for the number of ninjas who were slaughtered in that film. And one of them inexplicably fires a laser beam.

I lost all respect for Mel Gibson in that movie with her where he could hear women’s thoughts. Did he utilise this gift to manipulate chicks and smash more box than Wilt Chamberlain ????? No, he spent his time “understanding” Helen Hunts character. What a softcock.

Didn't he do that film after his troubles? Tried to rehabilitate his image. And failed

I think there was a remake of that film but with a chick. No doubt it’s absolutely terrible. But tbf I can’t see how you can make an honest film about what guys are thinking 99% of the time without it being a porno.
Another film that disappoints on the massive potential to smash Wilt level poontang is Ricky Gervais’ The Invention of Lying. He’s the only person in the world who can lie or who doesn’t take everything literally. Think about the possibilities....
But no, Ricky gets all moral and ethical about it. -

Hell I often can't go past an average woman without checking them out briefly. There's got to be at least one part that is worth a look
