@crucial I guess it's taken out of the equation due to the foul play in the first place?

With Kirifi and Laumape the canes have 2 of the most over rated players in NZ

Both have had storming games today. I think most people rate them appropriately - they are good players but limited.

@rebound i guess because that was the difference between no try and a PT and YC?

@toddy absolute bullshit. He had every right to try and force it, and that is all that he did. The ref and TMO should be removed from duty for a decent strength after this performance.

@stag Yep, he did have every right. Except he fucked up and pushed it dead. I don't agree with a PT but I thought it was definitely worth a penalty.

The Hurricanes shouldn't have a man more, but glad it was Flanders dotting down.

That high tackle seemed like direct contact to the head to me.

Did the Kiwi refs miss the memo about high tackles?

@crucial why are you fixated on the deliberate part. That's the offence in the law. So that's what it is

Not quite sure what the question is but when it happened I immediately called that it should be looked at.
On the replay I thought it could go either way as to being deliberate.
    I didn’t expect a PT though.
Another ref and it could have been a 5 metre scrum or a penalty and YC.
I can’t see that the try would have been scored from a bouncing slippery ball and sliding player

Apart from the bit that propelled the ball outside the field of play, sure.

I figure the ref just doesn't want to see the Crusaders win another comp.

I feel a bit for the Reds. We have got the 50/50 calls and are now putting them to the sword. The scoreline masks how bad we have been.

I think that is really harsh. The ball was way up in the air. Very hard to successfully force it. I didn't think he intentionally knocked that dead.

Then don't try to. He didn't attempt to catch it and that's not a genuine attempt to ground a ball when it's that high off the ground. Good decision.

What law are you applying there?
If judging the same way deliberate knock ins are you are probably right but these dead ball area ones are usually judged with a different threshold. The SBW example was a straight out deliberate knock dead and I can’t remember many others since.
