wow.. what a win! This really is a milestone moment for all those involved. Champions of test cricket (in my mind real cricket). For those retiring or about to retire this would undoubtebly be right up there in terms of highlights. Really happy for them and hopefully puts to bed some demons from previous games.

Hopefully this also leads to enhanced tours in the future and opportunities to show how good this team is.

    Well done!

I think Ross said this is the absolute top highlight of his career.

aussies works mates claiming they didn't know the WTC was a thing 🙄

Well if Aus aren't in it - it gets no coverage.

Just like America's Cup, Super Rugby Trans Ta$man Final etc etc etc

Yep, on Sunday morning I had Sky News Australia on and they covered AFL, NRL, A League, international tennis and golf but didn't mention the WTC. Fucken sad.

This should be (is in my eyes) the new pinnacle of cricket, probably hasnt sunken in for a lot of them yet. Even making the final is significant when you think of the results that we have had to ensure we got there. Even for India to make it was not easy, both teams deserved to be there. This result is a big deal, really happy for them!

    @bayimports I agree completely.

When we won the RWC in 1987, I can recall it was nowhere near as big of a deal as it had become by 2011!

We have become the Uruguay of test cricket! 🙂

the list of better servants to NZ cricket than those two blokes is pretty small

taylor is 37 and kane is 30, how good is it to think kane could be around for several more years if he wanted

Taylor especially. I genuinely though he was gone after the captaincy saga. That was almost ten years ago.

New Zealand beat India to win inaugural World Test Championship | Cricket News - Times of India

Cricket News: India's revered superstars failed to dazzle on the 'D-Day' as New Zealand's canny operators and their classy skipper Kane Williamson deservingly walke

The Times of India giving us plenty of credit.

The comments section is fairly brutal - summed up briefly by some guy called Paulie - "All Kholi Hype Burst.... useless fellow." 🙂

Both players have higher averages as captains than as non-captains as well.

Here's an interesting stat. If you look at the top 30 on the 'runs scored as captain' list, Kane has the third highest average behind Bradman and Steve Smith.

As a cap KW has averaged 61.4
