If I wasn't a broken record about this stuff I'd tell you about the crocodile too.

You get quite SNAPPY about being a broken record don't you...

And the story sounds cool but leave the defecation out please, pilots uniform/crocodile dundee vibes don't need to be ruined.

hahaha. You do Dad jokes as well. Snappy.

It wasn't literal, shitting myself that is. Just that a crocodile lose in the back of an aeroplane that you are flying is a bit frightening. Had to move one to the farm in Lae.

After it shagged itself senseless it probably ended up as a pair of shoes.

especially around the assumption that the spray load was understated on purpose.

Weight and balance just makes aircraft uncontrollable. That is a serious fuck up and you really shouldn't be able to get it wrong in terms of weight. Really simple stuff.

I've had it, insecure load in a Cessna 206, and believe it or not, it was a huge pig that just slid all the way to the back. Stalled the aircraft, which actually saved me. Wing dropped. A sort of spiral dive resulted. Nose went down, pig slid forward again, balance restored. Pig cage was then tied to my seat. Achieving that wasn't easy. The thing was huge too.

The best American ever to exist, Lt Col Tom 'Moses' Bouley was killed in his unbalanced F15- so yeah important stuff

@snowy I laugh about how flying to the Barrier they weigh you and all your luggage. That’s fine

So why didn’t they weigh the fucking staffy that someone Brough with them.

Not a crocodile or pig but things got interesting when the poor bloody mutt got stressed during take off and decided to jump onto the pilots lap

Love the barrier. The airlines flying there not so much. I guess everyone has to learn on the job to a certain extent but even I could tell the difference between Dairy Flat and the northern motorway

@tim I had no idea about that.

He's not a chick, but a Pole nonetheless, so we can all take some national pride.

One of the two polish squadrons had the highest kills in the BoB, even though they started late. RAF wouldn't let them fight, initially. Their tactic was to get a close as possible, whereas initially the RAF had their guns harmonised at 400 yards. Only the greatest of shots could get a deflection hit at that range. It dropped to 200 during the battle, even that's a challenge in air combat

They had scores to settle, clearly keen to make sure of each kill

is on my list of places to visit once it's possible to travel (relatively) easily again. Among other things, I'm far too amused at the idea of walking around calling out "Scramble! ... Scramble! ..." to find the museum cat...

@g-man I can explain that, but I get told off around here for that sort of thing so I won't.
