the test on how true her claims are has to be if frizell/NZR sue for libel/slander, i know i wouldn't just leave those kinds of claims hang in the air if they were untrue

Yes they would. They want this buried.

Going to make including All Blacks in anti domestic violence campaigns difficult.

@kirwan you think, things dont get buried like they use too, someone will always bring it back up, the internet never forgets, look how quickly we check and brought back up the others who have had trouble with the law

@kiwiwomble I don't think so. He/they may just want to focus on the upcoming test matches and not be distracted by legal proceedings.

Only for 1, they'll rotate the squad - he way well be in for Bled 3 for ex. Should be left in NZ until next year after a FUCK load of community work

@machpants I'd hope that he'd complete the restorative justice program before being eligible to play for New Zealand again.

This was NZR's prime opportunity to set some standards and make an example of a player who isn't even first choice. Arguably, Ethan Blackadder and Tom Robinson, and certainly Akira and Jacobson, would be better in that position. So they're not even losing much by cutting him for longer. This weak punishment might even cause some players to be a little disenchanted.

I'm surprised you can get diversion for slapping, then punching a woman and knocking her teeth out. Followed up with text harrassment.

That is what makes me question things. Not sure how it works in NZ, but knocking someone's teeth out in Qld will earn you a higher charge than assault. Harassment via text is another offence.

Well I guess if the facts were more in Frizzel's favour he woudn't have blocked their release.

Few references above to Fizell's playing ability but I'm not sure why that should matter. Punishment for a great and an average player should be the same imo for this kind of crime.

'’F... you b.... tell your friend to hide I’m gonna f... everyone’s up f... with the wrong guy,'’ the message read.

Frizell is understood to have slapped her before trying to leave the bar. He later punched her in the face, giving her a fat upper lip and a spilt lower lip.

Her boyfriend, who tried to intervene after the first incident, was outside on his phone when he was “coward punched”.

    Both suffered injuries.

Sources close to the incident said CCTV of the incident inside the bar was unavailable. However, footage of the incident outside the bar had been viewed by police.

“I am p..... off that he gets diversion,” the female victim's father said.

‘'At the end of the day he is a thug.’’

    Stuff

Speaking to media on Thursday, All Blacks coach Foster made it clear that the door is by no means shut on Frizell's future in the black jersey, and that the 15-test loose forward is being supported through the process.

"It's been a tough time for him personally," Foster says.

"He's gone through a process, both with the courts and New Zealand. They've come up with a conclusion that, as far as we're concerned, he's shown a good attitude as [to] how he's dealt with that.

"I know he's incredibly remorseful for that, and it's not something that any of us want.

"We're just going to keep working with him, and support him. He's still a family member for us.

Yeah, I definitely think the media sat on this until the NZRU made a decision, and now it's a bigger story.

im a softy and so yeah, hate to see someones career completely thrown out so not claiming he should be banned from ever playing....BUT

There has to be a middle ground between stringing him up and getting to represent your country, that includes just being in the squad

Its potentially shows a real problem with how NZ rugby is structured, NZR is his employer, they're not just putting together a representative team together of players soley employed by clubs

That story from Newshub makes Fozzie look like he's got no idea shows that Fozzie has got no idea.

Obviously punching a woman and then sending threatening texts, is not as bad as someone leaking the fact that you're looking at a League offer

Flip side to central contracting I guess. They become NZR employees and as such treated like anyone else in employment.
