Decided to try another of Panhead's offerings. The NZ IPA "Tumblin' Dice". It's growing on me with each can.
It’s a great time to do samples. Whilst I’m managing to keep up the exercising pretty well I’m also rewarding myself with a beer I haven’t tried and luckily the Supermarket is constantly stacked. The other day it was Duncan’s ( a brewery somewhere up Kapiti ) marshmallow stout. Over 10% and by golly it was sensational.

Just received a little order from Regional Wines. They have by far the best beer selection in Wellington especially when it comes to styles that most others don't stock.
Some more Sunshine Black Biere de Garde, A few belgian bruins, Emersons Phantom Lord, some good old Yeastie Boys PKB (a kiwi craft classic). Basically cool weather beers.
This online ordering lark is dangerous. -

That's crazy. Wow.
Homebrewing is an option of course ... got 40L of a hazy with Talus, Idaho 7 and Galaxy hops fermenting at the moment. Smells amazing, can't wait for it to get on tap.
Edit: not all for me. One keg of 20L is plenty

It’s an expensive jigsaw and beanie that’s for sure

I'd rather drink the toilet roll than Steinlager
Downvote.
Steiney Pure is one of life’s great pleasures.
Sitting on the deck drinking a Steinlager with my old man is a dream for me right now.

Steinlager sooo overrated. I suspect your vision of you and your dad is less about the beverage and more about the company... 😔

Beer's beer. If it's mass produced it tastes like either flavoured soda water or fairly refreshing sparkling hops, and if it's craft beer it tastes like compost. I don't understand any argument about which beers are better than others because they're all so bloody similar.

I think we might have the first genuine hot polish chick.

Wine is all just fermented grape juice as well and as for that gin stuff, just juniper flavoured hand sanitizer.

I won’t comment on the NZ National institution that is Steinlager but for someone to basically suggest that all beers taste pretty much the same can only place suspicion on said person.

Its certainly about history, but also location. But, btw, my old man doesn’t drink Steinies.
My preferred (mass-produced) beers would probably be Delirium Tremens, Duvel, and Leffe.
But, here in Japan on a hot day, I want a Heartland - even though I can buy all three of those above, and in Okinawa, I want an Orion even though it is just bubbly water.
When I’m in the USA, it’s Shiner all the way, but you might need to be in Texas to get that.
When, I’m home it’s Steinie (Pure). It’s the only NZ beer to ever have a truly international presence (for better or worse), and its been on the side of the ABs since about as long as I can remember. Plus, I come from the Waikato, so its not hard to be better than the local shit (Lion Red was actually the main beer in my town, never mind Waikato) and, Steinies just taste like home.
It might not be for everyone (fuck knows why), but free beer is the best beer, so you’d only be a fluffybunny to me if you came to my place and turned your nose up at the Steinies I put out.

You don't have a friend in Hokkaido who can send you Sapporo Classic?

And when I’m in Hokkaido, I drink just that.
It’s still not as good as a cold Heartland, from the big 500ml glass bottle, in Tokyo though.
Edit: and if any of you guys had ever lived in Tokyo when the heartland bar was the local meat market, you’d know why. Fucking memories. Holy shit.
