    4. In laws with attack dog and evil daughter finally reached out to us. Here is the message sent in full

"Hi mate, would you be interested in selling your mini? I think you said webuyanycar would buy it for 7,500 off you, so I'll offer you 7,000 cash pick up today. Would really help us out if you are still looking to sell it"

So, completely ignored the situation, offers to buy a car we aren't selling & then offers 500 underneath the lowball price we could get for it anyway .... under the guise of doing them a favour.

Some people really are unbelievable. I replied "No.".

Being out of L4, TR jnr wanted to go getbhis learners licence ( 😟 )

Anywhoo, went on website, one of the places not open Saturday, other one is open until 12, they have a checklist of what you need, done.

Head down yesterday morning, standing in a queue (queue for everything at moment) for about 10 mins, is now 10.45.

Lady comes out asking what people are here for (WOF, licence renewal) TR jnr only one to do learner test.

She's like "oh we stopped doing learners tests at 10.30, due to covid restrictions" I'm like, your website says you are open until 12, "yeah we are, but only doing WOF and Expired licences, but we are open in the week, but with restrictions only doing learner licence tests until 2.30...

I'm like, er, aren't like 90% of those sitting the test kids and therefore at school, and she's like, these changes are due to covid...my view is they were so busy with WOFs they thought they'd limit thier work yesterday and turn away the kid.

I'll ring the other place on Monday to see if they do them during thier open hours instead of when they feel like it.

So had a pretty gutted 16 year old yesterday.

AA in Whangarei is a total pain to get licences, we had the same with second supersonic spawn, twice went in to get it sorted and failed due to whatever reason.

@taniwharugby What a shit situation for Jnr, I can remember sitting the test in Whangarei in the 90's, all I remember is being nervous as anything.

It's crazy to think I had my full drivers licence at 16 as I did the courses which cut the wait in half. Here in Victoria we have the graduated licencing system where you have your L's for two years and your P's for 4 years making it I think 22 before you get your full licence.

Needless to say today's youth are far safer than I was when I was 16.

And not to rub salt in the wounds of Jnr but you can get your L's online at home here in Victoria.

@chimoaus yeah I took the shortcuts to be on my full by 16 too.

Cars these days are much faster and powerful though, in a previous job it was worrying the number of 16-18 year old whose parents bought them an Evo, WRX, Skyline GT25T etc...

@chimoaus When I got mine in Whangarei it was still the local traffic cops who did your practical tests.

@Snowy @Nepia just a thought, but maybe you guys could try shopping in this millennium? I had no idea it was even possible to buy anything new without hdmi or displayport.

Not what I said. If all displays have an HDMI cable why does the computer card not have one, and only display port? The "or" is important in your comment.
The computer has display port. The monitor has HDMI. The cable is HDMI both ends. They are not compatible out of the box.

I would not have even tried other options if I wasn't locked at home trying to use shit cables from years ago.

I actually think the card is fucked, on a brand new computer. Annoyed and can't get a new one. Fucking lockdowns.

Dentists. Just about had bloody enough of them.

Not the individuals, mind. The mad Iranian who masquerades as my dentist does a good job and is really good with patients like me who dislike any teeth-prodding with a passion. And the specialist who did my root canal work a few months back was gentleness personified - even though I couldn't understand a bloody word she said due to her full-face Covid mask with made her look and sound like a diminutive Darth Vader.

No, I went in to prep for a crown a few days to sort out some sensitivity and put some longstanding problems to bed. Only the tooth has now morphed into an infected root which feels like someone has positioned a fucking red-hot jack-hammer under the gum.

The mad Iranian has referred me to the mini-Darth Vader for an emergency appointment ASAP so hopefully things will get sorted out quickly, but I'm seriously grumpy with the bloody pain and the thought of multiple trips to Ms Vader's couch.

Also why the fuck can cars even go that fast when the speed limit is 100. Shouldnt all passenger vehicles be restricted like buses and trucks?

    Hell no!

hang on, aren't you the fuzz? Do you really want the public to have fast cars? Or have I been away too long and NZ/Australian police have followed their Italian colleagues?

Can I make a huge diva request that everyone "spoilers" dental work details please, just for me , absolutely makes me shiver, still can't unsee that tooth fairy meme. I'm fine for a check up with my lovely dentist but years of watching makeover series where people's teeth get pulled and drilled has me TRIGGGGGGERRRRED.

@crazy-horse If the car was fitted with auto emergency braking it would prevent the rear end collision, but I get what you are saying. The stats are pretty clear, a car less then 10 years old fitted with the latest safety equipment reduces young peoples chances of being killed on the roads by 85%. I know what type of car I want my loved ones driving, and it's not an old car.
