@l_n_p socio-economic factors ?
Good theory
As we're pretty fully open now it's all really macro level stuff ... for example with 30,000 cases/day I don't think regional differences can be explained by super-spreading individuals because statistically they will be evenly distributed in the population, you'd think anyway.
My best guess would be socio-economic as you say, plus the virus taking hold in more 'outlying' parts of the UK later based on intensity of travel patterns. England did see early hotspots in less wealthy areas after opening up - Midlands, North East.
But then based on that I'd think poor parts of London would be hit case-wise at least as hard if not worse - more crowded, more public transport, lower vaccination rates. And that just hasn't really happened. Now that could be because more natural community Delta resistance may have existed in London area before opening up (vs original strains and Beta-variant) but ... god knows, so many factors.

10 minutes late starting due to a "frozen computer". DG will be issuing a stay at home notice for everyone living in the area around Whakatīwai and also to anyone who works in the area or visited any houses in the area (the legal notice will set out the specific boundaries).

@canefan On a personal level I probably prefer L4 to 3. A few more people will be in the office which will be a pain as I will have to be 'more professional' we can do a bit more work but that's really about looking after clients as it won't be profitable.
Really pleased for others though - and of course you've got to get through time in L3 to reach the promised land of Level 2. It's a lot like Dante's seven circles

Jacinda Ardern poured cold water on the idea at today’s post-Cabinet press conference, reiterating that Level 2 may last for “some time” and that a move to Level 1 won’t be considered for at least as long as there remains a threat that organisers decide to go ahead with annual kids’ concert Christmas in the Park.
Ardern said the risk that Christmas in the Park still happens is “not negligible”, and that the country must remain vigilant and prepared.
“The last thing we would want is to signal a move down to Level 1 and open the door for those with ill intent to stage what would otherwise be prohibited events,” she said. “I know that there are many good, hard working, honest event organisers out there who wouldn’t ever consider hosting something like that, and I know things are very very hard right now, but if we move too early, without proper consideration, the results could be catastrophic.”

@tewaio although they arent being locked up like a criminal (plenty have proven this) more like kids who need a babysitter...
@nzzp so NPC is gone at L3...
Locked up is locked up!

@tewaio to law abiding citizens maybe, but plenty have gotten out of MIQ, but prison is usually tougher to get out of.
On the topic of vaccination, some expert was on 7 Sharp last night, saying he wants to see 90% by November and 99% by December...lofty goals.

I want that too - but realistically I can't see it happening. It would be awesome, but so many people are averse or stupid, or both
