Ooooo great idea for a thread. A few stand out for me

    Nirvana - Reading Festival
    Pearl Jam - Benaroya Hall

And a recent one (for me, anyway)

Fleetwood Mac - Live in Boston

    The Who. Live at Leeds

Captured at the top of their game and enough energy to supply a small town.

The Who, Live at Leeds. You get all the energy they can bring with some banging covers as well as their staples.

A great example of a band who really nailed it live, some songs that sounded a bit ho hum in a studio setting really made their mark……case in point….

    @antipodean

The dangers of writing a post and getting distracted before tapping the "submit" button. ...

But to be fair, Live at Leeds deserves more than two mentions

No rule says you too can't point to a great performance. One that The Simpsons thought worthy of capturing in popular culture. 👍

It’s gonna be extremely hard to beat the Who to be fair. Again, I hear any number of different songs from them in my travels but its the live versions that make me stop and really listen.

On my debut listen of this now.

Moon's arms must have been completely fucked at the end of it. He's going completely nuts.

In my haste I forgot to mention Rammstein live aus Berlin. The Paris show might be better, but I've played the first one almost as much as Maiden.

This is the answer. The best version of a lot of their best songs played at their peak

    Seconds Out by Genesis.

Songs have a different mood from the studio versions but still sound great. Phil Collins' vocals are teriffic. Their live albums from the early '90's are also pretty damn good.

No mention of Frampton comes Alive yet.

Very aptly named album. He came alive with that record and then died again.

There weren’t many record collections in the seventies without it though.
