I am honestly surprised no one has nominated any Nickeback songs yet. Bad, but not bad enough?
Because although they are completely unoriginal and formulaic, they're music is so much better than pretty much so every other song on this thread. (Except for Daughter, of course)
Honestly would you rather listen to How You Remind Me, Rock Star, Far Away etc or Achy Breaky Heart, Cotton Eye Joe, Hey Baby ....
Well. it depends on the setting, but I get the point. My surprise is not because I necessarily view Nickelback's songs as being the worst of the early-2000s - more stereotypical of that whiny rock of that era - more because they're so hated (Chad Kroger in particular).

@l_n_p weird choice as a follow up to capitalise on their early momentum
Bit like the international release of six months in a leaky boat
I wanted to give a Kiwi flavour to the thread ... I was going to post 'How Bizarre' by OMC to wind people up but I quite enjoy it. Woodface is simply a brilliant album, I just have to skip that first track.
Off topic, anyone who enjoys Crowded House should check out the World Party albums, which were the solo project of ex-Waterboy Karl Wallinger (certainly best known as the writer of "She's The One" for Robbie Williams)

Of course every ferner will claim they do cos everyone thinks they’re clever.
Or have watched GoT
Well done. A pint of the cheapest old bitter is on it’s way.
Ta. I should add that in Robson & Jerome's defence, they didn't actually sing or play any instruments on their records.
Well considering they both starred on the small screen they’re one up on Milli Vanilli
Unlike Milli Vanilli, they have non inconsiderable acting skill.

Yeah, it's a bit of an outlier for that album, but I think the lyrics are bloody good though

Best album for me was Goodbye Jumbo (1990) then Dumbing Up (2000). Like Crowded House, absolute classic gems scattered throughout all five albums. Like Neil Finn, a songwriting genius.
He had a brain aneurysm in 2001, lost speech and peripheral vision ... had to (re-)learn to play the guitar with his other hand. The royalties from "She's The One" kept him afloat.

@junior these guys said to hold thier beer, cos they are under-age...
Great call. And I'll never, ever forgive Hanson for leaving Sam Cane on the bench ahead of that 2019 World Cup Semi Final.

Potentially good thread just becoming lists of novelty songs or good or ok songs people got sick from over exposure.
Of those mentioned. Definitely Smash Mouth's 'All Star'.
As in does actually quite well represent the era of the late 90s in its sub-genre of alt rock and hip hop blend.
The lyrics contain the quite (now cliche) but then probably quite 'now' phrase of "get your game on".
Combined with absolutely timeless cliches of "all that glitters is gold" and"only shooting stars".
Then making "mold" into 3 syllables. But jesus christ. The lyric are bad.
The tune is just meh, and of it's time.
I find the singers voice offensive too, it’s like he’s gargling staples.

Worst songs of eras, decades, genres, or of all time if you like.
Starship's We Built This City is always a favourite here.
This is worse:
Feels wrong to give you an upvote for that fucken awful song but there you go.
Smash Mouth say “Hold my beer….”
I'm not going to check by clicking on either of those links, but...
Are Barenaked Ladies and Smash Mouth the same band? -

I'm pretty sure I couldn't name a song by either.
But - I think I vaguely remember the "style" of music... it matches their "style" of fashion/image remarkably well?
Summery-late90s-douche-baggery with a lingering aroma of certain-date-rape? -
@mn5 Cochrane is an all time legend....
.... in Canada
Wiki tells me he was part of The Red Riders (also legends ... in Canada) before going solo
He has won a plethora of Awards .... in Canada including Rock Hall of Fame Order of Canada and Grand Moose (OK I made that last one up - but you get it - he's one of the all timer greats .... in Canada)
He continued to chart (in Canada) throughout the 90's but since then appears to have been living the good life doing occasional charity gigs, accepting Awards, having a Highway renamed after him (the Tom Cochrane Life is a Highway Highway)
TBF being acknowledged as a music legend by Canadian's puts you in some pretty exalted company alongside (actually the Canadian Music Hall of Page inductees web page is broken but I'm guessing)
Sarah McLaughlin
BTO
Alanis Morrisette
k.d. laing
Shania Twain
Bryan Adams
Gil Evans
Anne Murray
Leonard Cohen
The Band
Guess Who
Neil Young
Joni Mitchell
Oscar PetersonThat's it I can't think of any musically gifted Canucks - no wonder they had to induct
whatshisnameTom Cochrane -
