dont actually know where to put this

    https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/real-life/news-life/woman-who-sued-doctor-for-being-born-wins-millions/news-story/ea63119623594241a65b1ad6c3387a45?utm_campaign=EditorialSB&utm_source=news.com.au&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_content=SocialBakers

it does seem crazy, i'm a bloke with no plans to have kids...and even i know folic acid is important for pregnant women...but she's managed to sue because her doc didn;t advise her to take it specifically?

more than just the inflammatory headline yes, but seems to boil down to the doc didn't advise to take folic acid, mum said she wouldn't have conceived if she'd known the risk

As i said i thought there was pretty big stories a while back about folic acid in bread why it was important

I love how the mum can be 100% certain of the decisions, about a topic she admits she didnt think about, she would have made 20 years ago

@kiwiwomble so what, parents pay her £10 per week?

Hasnt the thing around folic acid only been more recent (as in last decade or so)

So what if a kid is born of an unplanned pregnancy, can they also sue? Asking for a friend.

Can I sue one of my kids for being unplanned? Little fuckers cost a fortune

@taniwharugby they sued the doctor the doctor, so not even the person that decided to have a child

    that's the main contradicting point

unplanned preganancies happen all the time. Folic acid is not taken. Babies are born healthy

how can a judge say with any degree of certainty that, had folic acid been taken, this girl would have been born "normal"

@mariner4life i do understand that aspect, my understanding is it proven to help/prevent spina bifida, unplanned pregnancies that dont develop spina bifida may have other factors, the mother diet might already have lots of folic acid for example

I'm more interested in the lack of responsibility for the person that actually decided to have the baby, are we going to see docs sued if a parent smokes or drinks through their pregnancy and develop issues....its pretty common knowledge not too but if the docs doesn't specifically tell the mother...

Seems like the doctor should've taken better notes. E.g. "advised spoilt fluffybunny to ensure diet was good enough to maintain necessary nutrients like folic acid levels".

People who try to have a conversation, any sort, even a short question to you, when you are TAKING A SHIT.

It doesn't matter what it's about, it can wait. Leave me alone.

So this! the other day I sat on the toilet for my morning dump and my wife comes in tell me something. The dog follows the wife, and the two cats follow the dog. I'm trying to take a shit and I have an entire audience looking at me.

    Strictly Come Dancing

No problems with the dancers, but WTF is this self-indulgent, luvvie, preening group of crap-sprouters known as "the judges"?

A gay couple get to the final and they indulge in enough woke emotional masturbation to make the floor wet. They're a pair of dancers who happen to be gay FFS, it's no big deal in this day and age, it really isn't.

Good point. And it's bloody ironic the only judge who behaves normally is openly gay.
