I will however, tip my hat to NZC for their hosting schedule last season. To get 2 tours in through isolation etc, plus attached concurrent 'A' squads to make it worth the while of the players who aren't multi-format - was excellent.
No complaints from me about only having 2 test serieses last season.

@rapido I submit that it is impossible to lose $1,000,000.00 in five days. There is no way ground hireage and other associated costs involved could possible total that much. I call the NZCC's bluff and ask them to provide evidence of this supposed loss.
Yes, it's never really been challenged as a figure, or broken down. It's a figure put out by NZC about 2 years ago to justify their scheduling.
It might be they lose $1m of revenue compared to alternative of hosting 2 white ball matches. It might not, it might be bollocks.
I haven't seen a breakdown either, so can only give reckons, but host nations pay the cost of the touring teams, so that probably factors in somewhere. 5 days of test cricket compared to 3 ODIs/T20s also probably has quite a difference in ground costs and revenue, and possibly impact on the value of TV rights.

"Speaking from Dubai, where the majority of the Black Caps squad are training ahead of a friendly game with the Netherlands on Saturday, Stead said Williamson had arrived from India – where he had been playing in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad – carrying a minor injury. Black Caps coach Gary Stead says captain Kane Williamson has a “slight hamstring twinge” but is otherwise “feeling good”. But he played down fears that New Zealand’s talisman could be in doubt for their tournament opener against Pakistan in Sharjah on October 26."
wow after the sentiment coming from Pakistan for not playing there, thats going to go off with a bang (I will get my coat)

So the first round of Plunket Shield cricket wrapped up today with Wellington beating Otago and Canterbury drawing with Central Districts.
Wellington look to have a strong squad once again this year and have added former Volts player Nathan Smith to their side, who also ended up with the best figures with the ball. They will be sweating on Rachin Ravindra who retired hurt in their second innings run chase. His injury will also dampen his International test cricketing hopes later in the year if scans prove to be worse than first thought.
Canterbury were unable to run down the Central Stags score despite a 100 from Black Cap Tom Latham. The match ended up being rain effected which stumped any hope of an exciting last session.l earlier today.

10 years tomorrow. I remember watching the final day while trying to do some work. A good read.

Reece Young. That's a name I had completely forgotten about.

Yep I caught the whole day, definitely picked a good one to sit on the couch and be sick.
Bracewell with a once in a career game, great stuff. Still such a bugger that he never kicked on. He was robbed for Man of the match too, Warner almost got them home, but he still got it despite not doing so. Nine wickets in the match shoulda sealed it for Douggie.

Was that when the Aussies were doing viewer voting for the man of the match? I can't imagine there are many examples of a bowler taking 5 in the 4th innings, his side winning and not getting man of the match.
Yep. Says in the article ...

That’s some bullshit right there. I mean carrying your bat is a great effort but still, they lost, Doug won it for NZ.
Interesting batting line up there, Ryder at three and KW at five. I thought they would have swapped by then ?

I'm not as active on the fern anymore, is there now an expectation that people read links?

Absolutely not. Just assume the worst and get really shitty and wound up. More fun that way.

Bizarre finish in the 20 20 tonite. ND was doing it in a canter then needed 6 off last ball with last man in.... The ball landed a few metres away on the bank. Well done Trent Boult. First time I have seen the combined strike rates of the last pair totalling over 600. Yep. Katene Clarke hit 4 sixes in a row and Boult hit his second over the rope. What a nail biter at the Bay Oval. 107 should be easier to get....

@arhs Looking at the scorecard ND tried very hard to lose that game in the last over. How can an opener (Clarke) be not out but only face 12 balls? He made the most of them, of course! Did he retire hurt and then return?
Yep, retired hurt and then had to return at the end, after the ND batting line-up somehow failed to score the 70 or so runs still needed in the intervening 17 overs... an unusual game. Someone needed to tell several of the ND top order that it was too late to audition for the New Years Day test, or to be Jos Buttler in Adelaide...
