    Folks arrived. Scale - excellent.

They brought Feijoa pineapple lumps. Never had them before.

    Scale - off the.

The simple mention of pineapple lumps has instilled in me a longing for Jet Planes and frozen Buzz Bars...

The last time I had Jet Planes they'd changed the flavour. But I haven't tried them since to know whether I got a dud one off bag.

Speaking of flavour changes, the worst flavour change was Percy Pigs, used to be my lollies version of crack, now they're uneatable. Which isn't a bad thing as I'd always be getting people to send them/bring them back from the UK.

In terms of food from childhood, the biggest food crime in recent times has been the change in all of the Bluebird cheese snack range. I used to love Rashuns, Twisties, cheezels, burger rings. They are all dry and horrible now

I haven't eaten any of them lately, have they genuinely changed?

Might grab some rashuns when I'm home next week in between all the Rush Munros eating I'll be doing ... which is high on my Happiness Scale.

Cream freezes are what I miss the most. Now it's mostly sugary crap, like what McDs dishes up.

Yeah. They all used to each have a specific different shape. Now it looks like the same machine does the whole lot. But the texture is all wrong. Much drier, just not enjoyable. But I'm a bit of a connoisseur...

Yeah, I'm not much of a connoisseur, was always a chicken chips/CC's sort of guy, so I may not even notice the difference.

@canefan burger rings in particular have changed, they give off an almost bleach type smell now.

THere are however some outstanding chip (crisps for our UK followers) flavours out there now though, from a wide range of brands.

I agree. The top of the tree for me are proper crisps, and those wakachangi ones are pretty good. Nice and crunchy

I'm questioning whether you're actually a NZer now.

Edit: Haha, now the pic has popped up I understand.

A few bags of jet planes are in the pantry too ….

"Pantry" instead of food cupboard? My, we are getting anglicised. 😎

East of the Tamar, we’ve not had pantries since 1954. Just saying.

Almost as long as you've been getting cream teas wrong.
    🙄sigh.

Have you lot even considered that all these favoured childhood confections were always just a bit shit and it’s you that has changed?

I came to this conclusion when I tried Wagon Wheels for the first time in years and was appalled. My kids loved them though.

    No, absurd idea

Seriously though, the Rashuns we get here in Oz were still good as of a month ago. I need to try again to see if changed. Won't be happy!

    No.

Had to get four Easter Eggs for the kids……me being me and leaving it to the last minute everywhere had sold out so I though “fuck it” and got them all a box of Cadbury Roses each. It’s still chocolate right ?

I remember these being awesome and all the grown ups tried a couple and came to the conclusion that the “good” ones these days are worse than the “crap” ones from the old days.

    @MN5

Speaking of Easter eggs, I really miss the chocolate coated marshmallow ones. The ones with the pink marshmallow and yellow "yolk" were the real deal.

@Catogrande nah, some stuff they do change the recipe, sometimes cost cutting, others, who knows why.

But what they do more is reduce the size and charge you the same price, so stealth inflation.

No mate - k bars and buzz bars still up there. Can still remember biting down on a k bar and it pulled one of my loose teeth out.
