Foster and co win another RC. Seriously weird season results-wise for all teams

39 penalties 6 YCards….ummm….disjointed and very odd test. Arg came back nicely in 2nd 40 and I never honestly thought we would make up the points difference required before or during test so congrats to ABs for Bledisloe and Championship silverware 🍻👌🏻Some interesting end of year matchups loading…

Allblacks have a disaster of a season and still win the RC , and with having to play the boks in SA twice .

Not patting us on the back ,but it’s a bit funny when we have been a bit of a rabble by our standards.

    @kiwiinmelb

Not to mention lose a home game in the RC and still winning it.

I suppose it highlights the inconsistencies of the other sides that play in the RC.

Normally AB consistency of performance and ability to win away means they more often than not win the RC.

The fact no side could take advantage of a poor NZ side this year is pretty shit and probably shows the worth of the tournament to the teams in a way.

Even the ABs seem more fixed on winning the Bledisloe and beating Sa in SA than publically stating we want to win the RC.

Considering it’s one of the premier international rugby competitions, it’s a bit strange really. 🤷

Maybe it’s a pointer that other teams might be a bit inconsistent and dare I say it, shit, as well ?

Everyone thought the Boks would destroy NZ in the second game. Never happened.

Argies were NEVER going to back up that historic performance in NZ twice in a row.

Australia are living up to their ranking in World Rugby at the moment.

How does Le Roux keep getting Test caps? He's such a donkey.

Very disappointing match and an awful spectacle for this level. Horrible approach by the Springboks scrumming mauling niggling for cards and penalties all day. Glad the push by Etzebeth got pulled up. Lots of harsh calls v Pumas before that and the shove from Eben was far more than intended but cynical nonetheless.
Trying to score 40 points with Frans Steyn and Hendrikse slowing things and bumbling is a big ask.
Argentina tried to play rugby. De Allende was inspirational for South Africa but seemed a lone spirit. Fair result.

Consistently gets talked up by commentators as well, as if he were any good, just because he tries more than just kicking the ball away. Sad thing is, he can't execute anything well enough.

Very disappointed performance from the Boks. Expect that they would at least try to play more expensive. They miss Damian Willemse big time who can at least spark something.

Our season changed so no URC for Willemse, Amm, Mapimpi, Hendricks, Malherbe, Kitshoff, Etsebeth and Kolisi until January.

Next two tests will be vital against Ireland and France.

Our players is now use to NH conditions.

Some SA supporters at my work were so convinced of the great Bok depth and superiority, yet the ABs turn around and win the rugby championship.
Have the Boks been that great since the World Cup final??

They have a big win and everyone talks them up as a team to be feared.

They then follow it up with a shite performance and lose.

In that regard they’re no better than the ABs.

What did they do to actually win the WC ? Lost a pool game to NZ, beat a Japanese team who simply couldn’t maintain the momentum they’d achieved, scraped past Wales but then to be fair beat England well and truly after they had played their “final” against NZ the week before.

Hardly the stuff of a consistently brilliant team.

    Terrible game.

I missed it live and watched knowing score and some of the comments.

Frans Steyn play one of those all time bad games that usually sink a player's career but I have no doubt he'll still be in the mix come next year because "experience and versatility" when he is still flakey can only just barely hack it at 12.

The argentinians came in to the game with a clear game plan of making the game a shit fight. I don't mean that as a insult, it is a legimitimate strategy and one SA should have been able to counter. With the forward dominance we were enjoying we should just ground them to dust, but inaccuracy and the handbrake of a midfield meant that we could very rarely build pressure.

The refereeing is getting a lot of flack, but the standard throughout the RC was so bloody low that i dont think he really stood out. The Etzebeth yellow was wrong, but the biggest issue was just the randomness of a lot his calls and SAs terrible maul defence.

Where i thought SA really messed up with managing the ref was around the time wasting employed by Argentina. We would get an advantage, and then go for speculative chip or impossible offload, argentina would get the ball and boot it away and then have sit down while the ball is coming back to the mark. SA would have been much better served just playing normal rugby advantage and working to speed the game up at the restarts (and yes whinging about time management issues). This is an experienced bok side, they have no excuse being "out managed" in game like this.

@MN5 the old lucky draw argument. One thing about this Bok group with its bad gameplan is that they can beat any team on a given day anywhere if they get it right. WC don't have bonus points. Still far away and they show they can win the WC after losing a pool match.

Same thing applies to 4 or 5 other teams. Nothing special about the Boks.

@Frank ja sure, nothing special about them. Actually boring like hell gameplan. Foster's All Blacks are very exciting and special.

I just don't like the superiority complex I see in some Bok supporters (and it happens with AB supporters too). That regardless of the results, they are the best.
You're not like that are you?

Separate from beating any given team on any given day the Boks have been there and done that though winning 3 of the 7 RWCs they've competed in - showing an ability to win 3 knockouts in a row.

England haven't won one outside of a golden generation team.

    France have never won one.

Ireland have never won a knockout game.

    @KiwiMurph I think that's important as well.

'Been there done that' still means something in sport even if not the ultimate deciding factor.
Look at the Bled for example. Generations of Aussie players don't know how to win it or to win at EP. Despite all the talk about the past meaning nothing it keeps proving to do so.

So yep the Boks have history in scrapping their way through RWCs and I wouldn't put it past them to do so again.

That applies to Australia as well. Definite chance of making the semis.

@Frank nope , not at all. As a Stormers supporter I hate the current gameplan as much as anyone else. Our coach tried the same (when we had the Bok tight 5, Kolisi and PSdT) but he changed that and got results
