    Nooooo!

    But then again meh.

What a player in his prime but the became a vapid after dinner speaker cashing in on the once lucrative corporate lunch scene in the 90s, which was an abortion of idea.

    Still. On reflection, sad news.

Always sad when one of your rugby heroes goes.

I met him about 6-7 years ago at a sporting lunch along with Fitzy. Not the greatest of speakers as you say (unlike Fitzy), but chatting one of my rugby idols was great and his views on other players of that era was an experience I'll treasure.

He was joined at the hip to Benedict so quite fitting.

Not to comment on his life, but apparently he was in good health but died during complications during hip replacement surgery.

The lord works in mysterious ways eh?

I’ve gotta be honest. I have a feeling we’re due for sadder deaths than this one this year

    https://apnews.com/article/jeff-beck-dies-6fafc82a3f8fe8e27d6f6e39a215e28d

    Fuck, that one cuts deep.

No exaggeration, he was, as the article states, the Guitarists Guitarist, an absolutely wicked player. Not as well known as his contemporaries but he was so original and pretty much impossible to replicate.

I always thought he should have joined forces with Rod Stewart and whoever else and formed a band to rival all those 70s monsters and get the commercial success he deserved but then again he sounded like his own dude and happy to march to his own beat.

RIP to a true one of a kind.

Certainly a very influential player and idol to many other guitar greats.

Idol yes……not sure of influence though cos in his case it was “How the fuck does he sound like that ?”

you are taking the piss right? I can't always tell now I'm in my dotage

I was only playing Jeff Beck Group yesterday. Massively rated (yet still under-rated) guitarist. Saw him live once. Just a virtuoso
