Saw 2012 on the weekend in Gold Class here in BrisVegas. Impressive effects and gives some sobering thoughts to a E.L.E. (extinction level event). Story was way too unbelievable and melodramatic. Unbelievable in the sense that the main protagonist should've died like 10 times but didn't. Too mamby pamby predictable @ the end too. Otherwise entertaining 7/10.
maye use a spoiler?
Still heaps less than Arnie in Commando though ! he shouda, coulda, woulda but didnae die all through that action classic !
I haven't seen Blade Runner in ages but I certainly didn't like seeing Han Solo/Indiana Jones constantly get his ass kicked and be so downtrodden. One I definitely need to look at again though. Rutgar Hauer was cool before his career slid to Z Grade stuff.... -

In his defense, he does get beat up by androids, Daryl Hannah does sit on his face while beating him up, and he does manage to score with another android (by throwing her around and domanding obedience, quality). So he doesn't do too bad. -
Drag me to hell - 5.7/10, think they got tied up trying to decided whether to do a spoof or a genuine horror.

Fair few scary moments in it, but ruined by [spoiler:p3jqrhst]that ridiculously comical fight scene at the start, and then the funny bit where the old bag's eyes popped out of her head into the chicks face. But that bit at the start, just took away form the genuine scaryness of the film. IMO like when you see the creature in Jeepers Creepers, it takes away the mysteriousness of the being[/spoiler:p3jqrhst]
errr... Sam Raimi dude. Thats exactly what he does... Horror with a healthy dose of tongue in cheek humour...
you ever see The Evil Dead ? Same guy... -
Never heard of Sam Raimi until mentioned here.

I generally dont pre-judge movies by directors, unless it is Tim Burton... -
In this case with Raimi you kind of have to know what you're letting yourself in for. I loved Drag Me To Hell because I was expecting it to be a bit out of kilter and it was.

As mentioned the Evil Dead series is something you should have a look at to get a feel for his work, if you're interested. Spider-man no so much especially the last Emo tinged one.

Evil Dead was scary as fuck. The 2nd movie was scary but a direct spoof of the first and the third is just good fun and completely ridiculous. -

Ah classic! I might have to go find some torrents...
How bad is some of the stop motion animation in that film ? hilarious. Actually the PS2 game is some great brainless fun, only gripe is that you start with the chainsaw and shotgun combo, any additional weapon "upgrade" is more of a downgrade. -

It wasn't a massive leap from Jason and The Argonauts even though the movies are nearly 30 years apart. If there was ever a movie I'd like to see remade it's the Army of Darkness.

Dream pairing would be Raimi and Peter jackson(in Brain Dead, Meet the Feebles mode) as co-directors. Bruce Campbell is the only guy who could play Ash though...or is he? Any ideas? -
The guy who plays Stifler perhaps ? he has an amazing ability to make a shit movie ( American pie and its sequals ) watchable and funny. With his rubberfaced zanyness he'd be bloody good.

Bruce Campbell is getting on and his physique nowadays certainly says "character actor" more than "action hero" but a gratuitous cameo could be in order. -
Thats an inspired bit of casting that. He would do the sarcasm well and the stifler nasty streak also lends itself to the role.

I find myself thinking of Ryan Reynolds again. When the guy isn't being a pretty boy and ruining comic book characters he is very funny and charismatic which is exactly what you want Ash to be. plus he gets props for bagging Scarlet!

Ideally though you'd want Campbell but the B-grade years have really not been good to the gut. -
Surrogates; 6/10

was ok, a tad slow, lacking in action given what we expect from ol' Bruce. -
My wife and I tried to watch Bruno last night. Utter shit. Basically recycled jokes from Borat.

SOme of the people he made fun of were not deserving of it at all and the ones that were made me sick.

[spoiler:stta0rmf]I like a bit of immature infantile humour as much as the next guy and did laugh during the pigmy sex stuff but that was it.[/spoiler:stta0rmf]

Turned it off after 35min -

I lasted all the way through but yeah, no hurry to see it again. Mercifully it wasn't that long. As I said though I'm god damn certain more people were actually in on it than in Borat. Raz just be thankful you [spoiler:1k7ihqy3]turned it off before the straight Dave scene, lets just say that's something I could quite comfortably never see again[/spoiler:1k7ihqy3] -
Saw Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy last night. Utter shæt. I thought the TV series was bad but the movie was total pants. There are some books that just can't be made to film and you really had to read the books to understand what the hell was happening in the film. The effects were good but the acting and altered plot were cråp.

W: Terrific performance from Josh Brolin as W. One of the worst performances ever by Thandie Newton as Rice. God god she was shit. Entertaining enough film, not the total hatchet job the lefties were expecting but still hardly a sympathetic portrayal of Bush or his family.

Angels and Demons: Entertaining enough without being brilliant. Absurd plot but on the whole a good adaption from the book. -
Last House on the Left - not a bad thriller, obviously follows the tried and true format for these kind of thrillers, but a decent enough watch 6.5/10
[spoiler:1d15x3xi]I dont see why they felt the need to explode that dudes head in the mocrowave, I mean you thought he was dead movie kinda ended and then they ruined it with somethign trivial. Also, I did like the fact they steered from the norm of the baddie not really being dead and jumping up for one last go at killing them, and the guy actually checked his pulse (even if he was still alive)[/spoiler:1d15x3xi]
