Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus eusa_whistle <br />
<br />
Bear in mind I got this out in the hope that it would be "so cheesy and bad it would be good" in a Snake on a plane type way....<br />
<br />
Sheesh don't fucken bother. Shocking shit on any number of levels with the horrific acting only surpassed by the horrific special effects. They were so bad they actually showed the shark swimming in the same shot about 10 times. Not only can a giant shark leap out of the water and bite a jumbo jet out of the sky a giant octopus can swat a supersonic jet. <br />
<br />
I think the giant monsters were only on screen for a total of about five minutes. The rest was spent with Deborah Gibson ( remember her ? shes still not too bad ), an asian guy and an irish guy mixing liquids and doing scientific stuff for no apparent reason. <br />
<br />
Remember my initial sentence, "so bad its bad, no so bad it's good...."<br />
<br />
1.3/10

Inglorius Basterds, this movie is 2.5 hours long.... xzxscratch_one-s_head <br />
<br />
It is an ok movie with a decent enough story, but it is 2.5 hours long, it was not good enough to be that long I am afraid!

warning for those with kids ~ "the dog who saved Christmas" is by far the worst fucking movie ever made. It has talking animals and they couldn't even be arsed doing CGI to get mouths to move or even given them peanut nutter (Mr Ed) so you get a dog sitting there doing nothing with a voice over, then it pans to another dod doing nothing with a voice over.

Watched that last night although I watched in instalments so it didnt feel as long. I really liked it. Nobody does dialogue like Tarantino. I lived in Germany about 12 years ago and it was hilarious for me to see Austrian tv actors (Jew Hunter and the Austrian jew) in a major Hollywood film. The guy that played Jew hunter will win an oscar for sure. 8 out of 10.

it was ok, for me about 6.5/10, but just seemed way too long xzxunknown Thought the Jew Hunter and Pitt were both very good though.

Watched Happiness for the first time in about 10 years the other night. Bloody good movie, dark as fuck, not for everyone - last scene between father and son is brutal. Jared Harris was good - who knew he could play a russian. Obviously I've been watching too much Fringe.

Saw Avatar in 3-D last night, excellent movie but you would really have to see it in 3D to appreciate it e.g. some of the movie would be lost in translation with-out the 3D effects.<br />
<br />
Thought it was excellent, seamless integration of real and CGI, entertaining storyline and visually stunning - a little blunt in it's delivery though...<br />
<br />
Ironical in that this movie somewhat appeared to represent what happened between the American's and the American Indian's, can't help but feel it's a little sanctimonious...

I enjoyed it, but wasn't sure about the 3D. It felt a little gimmicky, and with all the brilliant CGI on display I'm not sure it needed it.<br />
<br />
I will say it's the best CGI I've ever seen, I didn't see a single bad effect and the aliens looked utterly real. A real landmark in the technology, it was like a couple hundred gollums being on screen, but even better than that CGI.<br />
<br />
The story was fine, very predictable but that's not a problem for this type of film. And I'm not convinced about Sam Worthington, he's fine in a Colin Farrel sort of way, but like him I have no idea how he's getting these movies. He was very earnest, and with some of the dialogue he bloody needed to be.<br />
<br />
I'd give it a 7/10 and will see it again on a normal screen.

Its a snowball thing, he hit the headlines in Somersault & then he gets cast in 1 huge film & then everyone goes "I saw this guy in Somersault, he was pretty good & he's cast in Terminator 4 so by the end of 2009 he'll be HUGE, so we cast him in Avatar". <br />
<br />
Then the when they are casting Clash of the Titans they go ""I saw this guy in Somersault, he was pretty good & he's cast in Terminator 4 AND in Avatar, so by the start of 2010 he'll be HUGE so we'll cast him in Clash!".<br />
<br />
And so on, becomes self-fulfilling. That and they are betting on him becoming MASSIVE & yet they can get him for a tenth of the price of Christian Bale.<br />
<br />
Same happened a few years back with Shia Lebouf. <br />
<br />
And for that matter with Colin Farrell <br />
<br />
We recently bought a film for no reason other than it having Gemma Arterton in it on the back of it delivering in Q4 2010 after shes been in Clash & Prince of Persia. Shes shit for the role, but its a bet on her being massive. Cracking set of tits tho'.

And on a review / upcoming point I saw the 99% finished version of this a little while back - <br />
<br />
[url="

<br />
<br />
(its Kick Ass)<br />
<br />
The trailer pretty much sums up the movie. Its just superb, action, great one liners & just an insane amount of very inappropriate violence. Based on a slightly obscure set of comics. Next year is shaping up to be superb from a mindless exploding helicopters people being shot in the face kind of way - Clash of the Titans, Robin Hood (ie Gladiator 2), Kick Ass, Iron Man 2...

Ya, the Robin Hood trailer looked pretty good - people getting a massive sword in the head and shit <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

It really is Gladiator 2. (YAY!)<br />
<br />
I defy anyone to watch big Russ smoke those 6 guys & end with the double handed beheading in Gladiator & not pee themselves just a little bit at the awesomeness of it. Its like the bit in Star Wars when you realise Han Solo has come back & shot those last couple of Tie Fighters.<br />
<br />
Yes Russ, yes I am entertained.

Seen a couple of shorts for Robin Hood - and I'm looking forward to it as well.<br />
That and Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr. one of my favourite actors.

Saw Invictus last night - thought it was very good.<br />
<br />
The rugby scenes in it, were very realistic, most impressive. For the non rugby player they infused parts of the story to give ideas as to how to play rugby, which I also thought was good for the American audience. As much to a number of you on here's surprise - they didn't paint the All Blacks off to be villians. In fact the opposite - we were portrayed very well, especially our favourite man - JONAH!<br />
The haka wasn't too bad, could have been better, but could have been worse, so no complaints.<br />
<br />
Also some of the characters were a close resemblance, so they were trying to stuck to the true story. For instance the little scruffy haired guy they had for Merths.<br />
<br />
Story line was good as well - but most of us should know it anyway.<br />
Freeman and Damon both played their parts very well, no surprise there as they're both brilliant actors. A reasonable bit of humor throughout as well, which was good.<br />
<br />
Overall I thought it was a very good movie. To watch as a spectacle, to portray the game we love, and to also show the team we love.

Watched eXistenZ for the first time since 1999 (I'm a huge Cronenberg fan) last night. Good movie, even with the tacked on last line from the asian dude. Aged surprisingly well (although those plastic VR sets were pretty clunky). 8/10.
