Watched Adam Sandlers 'Eight Crazy Nights'.<br />
An animated musical, with Sandler as the lead voicing a troublemaker over Christmas.<br />

Typical Sandler fare, so if you're a fan - you'll like this!<br />
Haven't heard of it before - but it was on TV over the Xmas break. DVR'ed it and finally got around to watching it. -

Yes - Flags Of Our Fathers. Was directed by Clint also. But I think it was more about the controversy over/after the raising of the flag by the US troops on Iwo Jima. A bunch of it was based back in the US after the war. -
ah yeah I recall it now, but isnt there still some scenes that tie the 2 movies together still? <br />

watched Sherlock Holmes last night. Had quite low expectations of it, so perhaps as a result quite enjoyed it. Though the flashbacks did take a bit of getting used to. I did like Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes though, his wit came across quite well to me.<br />

Also got Public Enemies out on Blu-Ray the other day. I also quite enjoyed that. Wasn't amazing but certainly kept my interest. Random acts of violence and some sort of storyline seem to got OK in this film. -
Watched Crank High Voltage and oh my goodness what a dreadful movie. So bad that it is a must watch. Everyone should watch this movie! I swear. So bad that it's a laugh out loud movie.<br />

Also watched something with Ricky Gervais and how he can see ghosts. I find Gervais type humour rather funny so I really enjoyed the movie. He's not the worst actor in the world for a comedian, in my opinion -

Couldn't agree more. Heard it was pretty bad before I got around to watch it but it turned out even worse than I thought. They managed to set aside everything that is great about 50s sci-fi and today's blockbusters, kept what was left and made a movie with it. Quite an achievement when you think about it. Just the fact the famous Klatuu line wasn't originally supposed to be in the movie and that Keanu Reeves had to convince the director to include in the script says it all.<br />

I thought War of the Worlds was a bit disappointing as well but it wasn't nearly as terrible as TDTESS. -

I think the television networks have bought a budget-box of Adam Sandler movies. There's been a couple shown already and there are several to be played in the coming week (for those who like his movies). -

I saw Sherlock Holmes last night as well, took me awhile to get into it but well worth it. Some superb banter between RDJ and JL. A good charasmatic badguy as well and great to see the return of the Indestructible henchman usually seen in James Bond or Indiana Jones. This guy was a beauty, a massive scarred frenchman. Apparently the tower of london CGI was on the wrong side ? if so I never noticed despite having lived there. A really good silly action movie though, pretty damn enjoyable. -
I have confession, i like stupid comedy. Thus i have to admit to liking Will Ferrell. His movies make me laugh. When he has someone else good to bounce off (John C Reilly, anyone in Anchorman) it is gold.<br />

I watched Step Brothers last night. It's ridiculous. But i laughed so hard i cried at some points. Particularly sabotaging the house sale, and at the inevitible falling out. If you are hungover, and just want to sit on your couch watching something stupid, then this fits the bill nicely. -

Agreed, movie is absolute shite, in fact we went into the movie expecting it to be shite, solely for the Special effects. In the end I wasn't dissapointed as the SE were bloody awesome, however the movie did drag on an hour too long.<br />

Your right Raz, about 3 or 4 too many plane takeoffs in this one, the first two were OK but I was over the plot by the 3rd one. -

I actually had a hard time understanding Downey in Sherlock Holmes. He spoke both softly, and rather quickly with his British accent. I found it hard to follow. Normally I don't have that sort of problem with other British accents and films (ie Snatch, Lock Stock, and two Smoking Barrels etc). Coincidentally, the only other person in my lab at work who saw Sherlock Holmes had the same complaint. Holmes was a little too Jason Bournesque for my liking. -

I understood him fine and apparently this is a great rendering of his character ( ie druggie who was handy with his fists etc ). In the orginal novels he is a bit of an action man ( not that I've ever read them ) -
Maybe the Kiwi ear is more attune to the (faux) Pommy accent? Never read the books either. [Geek] My prior exposure to Sherlock Holmes is colored by Star Trek TNG, where Data played Holmes, and Geordi La Forge Dr. Watson. [/Geek]
