    Terrible technique by Vunipola and rightfully a Red Card.

    I feel quite blessed that I only got to watch about 20 minutes of that game. We were absolutely clueless. I can’t see any progression under Borthwick, in fact, quite the opposite. You’d have thought these blokes had just met each other for the first time. Their body language was screaming that they don’t believe in what they’re doing.

    It’s a fucking shambles.

    I really enjoyed that commentary team but so lacklustre from England. Vunipola was so ponderous his team did better without him. Prendergast and Aki were great today but I thought Ireland made a lot more errors than usual.

    Nah, he couldn't control that significant change in direction from the ball carrier.

    A long running pet peeve of mine. They are initiating contact 5 yards ahead of the ball. And have been for years.

    Hoping Japan can have another big WC scalp. And if Fiji ever want to play finals this could be their moment

    If by "Finals" you mean the knockout rounds, FYI:

    An aspect of the England coaching that has been vexing me is the box kick defence we employ. If you can call it that. Most teams, Wales in particular do this well, once the kick is in the air there is a screen of players retreating to assist the catcher but their real job of course is to protect him from the kick chaser getting a decent hit on him. I dislike this defence as to me it is organised obstruction, but it is legal and effective. England do not seem to employ this defence, or if they do it is very disorganised to the extent it is useless. I’d have thought this would be an important thing to have in the armoury and pretty easy to fix.

    @Catogrande

    There seems zero confidence at the moment. The I-don't-want-to-be here body language from the off was telling as they looked to be beaten from the start.

    Don't think it's all doom and gloom though. They performed better when down to 14 men and fighting to avoid a serious shellacking so there's real potential there.

    Re the second para, we’ve seen over the last 6 months or so, that England CAN play but it seems limited to the final 10 minutes when its is too late. It’s like they have Carte Blanche to rip up the playbook when we are already fucked, but if the players off the cuff approach is repetitively more effective than the game plan, then you have to look at the coaching.
