Except for the 2nd and 3rd games were the team who batted first won

This is probably why I'm always the reserve scorer or umpire. Mere details... 😂 🙂

NZC should allow Australia to enter 2 teams into the Plunket Shield.

Maybe a Boxing Day Test at the Basin by 2040.

Turned on to see Mitchell go nuts; 464 off rashid. He and Conway centuries, and a dominant partnership that wins us the game. Well done lads

NZ A have performed really well against their Australian counterparts, surely that bodes well for the future.

Mitchell is quite the phenomenon. His first class record was decent but didn't really suggest that he was going to dominate at international level like he has. I never really saw him play before his black caps debut, did anyone see him playing before that and see signs of what was to come?

While Kane is out injured he has a decent claim to being our best bat. I keep expecting him to turn back into a pumpkin but he just keeps performing.

And to think he wouldn't have even got a run if Nicholls hadn't got hurt

Either him or Devon Conway who I reckon just oozes class ( although I will concede Johns son early test record is even better )

With them and KW still going perhaps the glory years haven’t quite gone just yet although both are the wrong side of 30 ( along with our three main seamers )

Conway was at least tearing it up domestically. I was hopeful that he would be a top quality test batsman. My expectations of Mitchell were that he'd be a de Grandhomme level player - a reliable lower order bat and useful bowling option.

Is a 50 average so far enough for you ?

That's not mean as a criticism of Conway! My point is more than Conway was selected off the back of an incredible run of domestic form so I wasn't surprised by his success. Whereas Mitchell came in with a domestic record that suggested he'd be a useful contributor but probably not much more. But instead he's blossomed. Those two plus Kane and Latham are essentially the heart of our batting lineup now.

I know what you meant 🙂

Given that Nicholls, Young and Blundell all have their moments things are looking rosy…..for a bit longer at least.

No room for Finn Allen, Henry Nicolls, Adam Milne or Kyle Jamieson

A good summary of where the pace bowling stocks are at present. This backs up what has been discussed recently, but Hesson is more realistic than Wells.

I am not sure someone currently in the system is going to publicly say our options are rubbish even if they think it.

So basically in the not so distant future everything depends on Jamieson ? We already knew that.

The rest are bog standard journeymen.

One may get close to Southee/Boult/Wags level, certainly not three. We’ve had our terrific period, time for a slump.
