I'm guessing one of Chapman/Ravindra might play ahead of one of Henry/Southee.

Partly to lengthen the batting, and depending on how they read the pitches. Especially with Mitchell and the Neesh offering medium pace alongside Boult and one of Henry/Southee.

Edit: might also depend on how much Philips is seen as a slow bowling option.

Ravindra seems to have big game temperament, and Chapman has had some exciting innings in recent times

Sodhi has done bloody well to get us within 4 calls of 50 overs. Watching the Wahs 😞 so no idea if the pitch is dead and that is an ok score though.

All all round performance from Ish on a par with the days when Dan Vettori used to do everything.

Keep reading pieces suggesting India are big favourites for this tournament, personally think it could be the most open for a while with quite a few teams who could ‘come off’ in a big game, England, NZ, Saffas all look dangerous to me

    Thanks for posting those @Daffy-Jaffy

Very pleasing performances leading into the cup. Bangles in those conditions can be very challenging but we've put them to the sword a couple of games in a row.

I believe that is the first ODI series win in Bangladesh ever.

That is a bloody good win since both Kane and Mitchell retired after notching up half tons. Pretty much every batsman except Conway made a useful contribution.

Kane's already ruled out of the opener but should have two warmups under his belt before the tournament gets under way, so feels like he'll be ready for our second game.

Afghanistan looking quite comfortable against Bangladesh so far. 39-0 after 7 overs

They are replacing the Windies so they have a bit to live up to.

Couldn’t keep it going though. All out for 156. Bangles appear to be comfortably chasing it down

Saffas off to a solid start against SL in the other match

Not often you get 3 centuries in an ODI innings eh.

Get the feeling SL might struggle

I don't think you could get much more bang on than SL are at 30 overs.

During the recent warm up series in Bangladesh , it dawned on me that if they made ODI pitches difficult to bat on then I'd enjoy/watch this format again.

With modern bats (plus some extra scoring shots invented in the T20 era) teams can 'struggle' to 230 odd on pitches that used to be 170-par in the 90s.

Thar was fun to watch. Some risk v reward jeopardy keeping the viewing interesting the whole match.

These 450 v 350 matches bore me senseless for the 50% of the match your team isnt batting.

Only 'problem ' i see with my proposed spicy ODI pitch hypothesis is - the only way to make a pitch evenly difficult for 100 overs is if it is 'over dry' rather than a bit sticky. So spin and pace-off would be the dominant bowling method.
