Daniel Flynn the batting coach does not have seemed to have helped much in this tour.

Given he only retired from playing earlier this decade perhaps someone with some decent coaching experience instead could do the trick....

    Hardly a glittering career either

Craps batting scorecard looks like a Saturday morning kids one, where the balls faced can't be more than about 15ish from batting in partnerships...

Thanks all... the complete lack of actual score made me have to go look it up, at which I said out loud "For fuck's sake".
NZ - 55/5 - in case any other poor fluffybunny is curious.
    What The Actual Fuck.
I saw Bangladesh at something like 44/4 earlier - and thought "Fuck yeah, the coaches ripped into them after game 1... hopefully not just the bowlers but the batters."
    Piss poor.

Some one with more experience of the subcontinent as well I would think.

There goes any chance at the WTC. Not that we were going to be competitive, but it's only harder from here

    This is disgraceful.

How about the pitch though, for a game that’s supposed to last 5 days, this will be lucky to last 2.

    Up to 5 days.

    I love these pitches.

I think the batting. Well the dismissals. Have been quite bad. But I guess they don't reflect the balls leading up, I guess. But plenty have been bad, unlucky, or just plain weird.

When Phillips and Santner look like world-beaters on that pitch you just knew NZ was going to be in trouble.

you know what really grinds my gears?

The South Continent nations have genuine home pitch advantages. Absolute burners that take experience to play on

What do we serve up in response? Benign flat batting decks. The only reason for our success was we had a metronome South African willing to bowl bouncers over after over after over until the batsman got bored and fucked up.

    Bring back the fucking green.

@mariner4life The traditional NZ green tops encouraged generation after generation of NZ medium fast do a little but not much bowlers and batsmen who learned to flash at stuff because long term survival was not an option.

Improving the wickets was the best thing NZ Cricket did. Bowlers and batsmen had to learn to be patient, think and hone their techniques.

We could always roll out the green tops when the tourists arrive though... 😁

But on the subject of this actual pitch in Dhaka. It is weird, doesn't look dusty etc like a normal Asian turner. Heard one the TV commentators describe it as damp. Which also explains the incredible bounce.

So, will it dry out into a road. Like the NZ green-roads of recent years? (in the unlikely event NZ make it last long enough to get dry?)

    @Rapido love the optimism.

Could do with a ridiculous hitting innings from Phillips or Mitchell today, but I can't see it. We are so far behind in the game right now - woul dneed some serious tail wagging to get anywhere.

    Woah, woah, woah.

    Don't mistake that for optimisim.

If it were to turn out that way, it would be just in time for Bangladesh to bat and put on 500.
