This guy sounds like the next Jerry Collin’s/Jerome Kaino.

No Ethan Blackadder obviously but he might get a bit of game time this year.

Honest truth, I think Segner is probably in Balckadder mold, can play 6-7-7 all pretty well and hell of a workrate!

Segner actually makes it on to the field.

I still wouldn't pick em, but.

I'm not confident Segner is big enough for Test rugby. He was probably the Blues' best loose over the weekend, mind you.

Finau is definitely big enough but he's not the most involved player. It's great when he puts in a couple of clattering hits or makes some nice ground on the outside, but he'd need two very hard-working loosies to complement him.

Regardless of his ability, some random
German guy who decides to try his hand at rugby and makes the ABs would be a cool story. Not to mention all the Panzer brigade references etc.

Well our loosies had good practice doing that at the business end of the season with the useless Tongan piece of shit.

Edit: I think Segner is looking bigger this year, he's filled out a bit.

    @mariner4life

I thought it was really late and pretty obvious, still a bloody good tackle though.

Like his attitude and work rate and totally agree he needs to be in Black.

Segner is bigger than you think (1.92 m, 108 kg). IMO his best position is at 7, and I think he is better at slowing down opposition ball/winning turnovers than Papalii in that position.

@Bovidae I agree, upset a Papalii fan on another forum got upset when I suggested it. I just like Segner, been on his bandwagon since I saw him play for NZ schoolboys a few years back in Brisbane. He reminds me of what excited me about Etahn Blackadder, I say it time and again, I a rel fan of players with huge workrates who get of ground and keep trying to contribute to game. But am willing to admit, because I measure those traits so highly doesn't make me anymore right than any other though!

@Bovidae I think it's noticeable when he isn't there that highlights his importance to thier style of play.

I think Rush is very similar to Segnar in the way he plays, but short of a couple of injuries isn't likely to get much time to show his wares

i think he should be the first loose forward on the team sheet for the Blues, and then they rotate the others around him. He's not the best of them, but he's the glue guy that lets the others best do their thing.

Not sure i am ready to annoint him international ready though

Bro, do you have a death wish?

Also, you've now attached German Jesus status to him by associating him with Ta$man Jesus, you've ruined him now. 😉

Segner might get a chance at 7 when Tuupulotu returns from injury and regains the captaincy

Random thoughts after tonight's Sith v Canes. Not comprehensive. And very random ...

Felt this game was only NPC level. Very few ABs or potential ABs on display.

Usually Sith have multiple ABs on the bench ... they kinda did this time but they Used To Be ABs. A step below what you expect.

But less about the game, more about future selections:

1 . Grace falls down my rankings. Didn't offer much.
    2. Still wating for Lakai to impress. Goes ok at this level admittedly... but otherwise unimpressive.
    3. Macca Springer has a future.
    4. Bald Sader openside (forgot his name) is forgettable.
    5. Sader's hooker Bell is anonymous..

Other random thoughts as they come to mind.

Grace as well as scoring a great try,Pinched a couple of Canes line outs,Pulled of some big hits a lot of the defence was lead by Grace. He ran at the line hard bent it a few times.Best game he has put out in sometime.
I am not saying he played his way in to AB contention on one game but if you were really watching you would seen a lot more than a try.

Agree he had a good game last night. He's been well off the pace in the first three weeks though. Gardiner has been worse so not many commented on Grace
