I remember watching him on Pot Black as a kid, along with other legends like Hurricane Higgins, Eddie Charlton and Steve Davis

RIP Dracula. Who’d have thought.

Legend indeed. The roster of guys he played with/mentored/discovered etc was huge. Being just that little bit older than them made him a real father figure.
He was a talented muso and had a terrific raspy blues voice. I went and saw him with the old man when he played in Welly some years ago ( 2010, thanks google ), great gig, loads of energy ( he would have been close to 80 at the time ) and we had an opportunity to meet him afterwards where true to form the bloke in front of us asked if he was Rik Mayalls Dad to which he sighed and said ‘no’ with that ‘ I get asked this a hundred times a day’ resignation.
Nice bloke, very humble and loads of British music superstars owe their careers to him.
RIP indeed sir.

Cool story.
I was going to ask the same thing. Always good when someone else makes a dick of themselves before you do

Even cooler story 😀
I’m trying to think if I can incorporate any dragons into it….
Mayall toured until pretty recently. Legendary stuff. Hats off to the man for doing what he loved for so long

RIP to a very good batsman.
Seemed to be a genuine class player during a period when England didn’t have many.
Got a great double hundred in the same test that Astle got 222 in.
Sad news for England Cricket & Surrey. Geez 55 is way to young but I understand he had been quite ill for a period of time.

Sad news. Thorpe was a dream to watch play. Definitely my favourite player from England.
