A great man. I was coached by him for 6-7 years. Formidable but with an impish sense of humour to go with it. And he gave me plenty of good opportunities above and beyond the standard coaching programme.

Yeah they were “teenagers” ( more like early 20s but still ) when I became a teenager if I remember rightly.

won't mean much to many, but NFL wide receiver Jacoby Jones died this morning.
Broncos fans will always remember him as the guy who scored the 70-yard touch down in the dying seconds of the Divisional round to eliminate us. Niners fans will remember him as the guy who scored the longest Superbowl TD of all time to beat help beat them. Two plays like that in the same successful playoff run.

How old was he?
I studied in ChCh 98-01 and he seemed about 60 then.
It was always eventful when he jumped on your bus, he was a classic! -
Didn’t give his age but he already seemed about 60 in the 1980s!

Haha, we were talking about him only last week at work and I had no idea who he was haha, along with other Chch icons over the years.
