Ironman 2. I thought the 1st one was great but this one seemed to drag a little in the middle. I have no idea about the comics but the Hammer character was starting to drive me batty. The Wrestler dude played a choice baddy. The missus hated it but really enjoyed the first. It's not a must see (imo) but good enjoyment value if it's a wet afternoon.
<br />
<br />
I thoroughly enjoyed it, including the Sam Rockwell character (Hammer) and good to see Garry Shandling getting some work, I loved him as the military-industrialist senator. Scarlett was a bit wasted, she looked lovely, but tight-lipped with negligible dialogue most of the time. Rourke also didn't say much, but then again, he doesn't have to, he looks like a perfect villain. Good to see S.H.I.E.L.D. involved, but didn't know that Nick Fury was a black man (Samuel Jackson). He needs more beard, and where's the cigar he's supposed to be chomping? <br />
<br />
I thought the final showdown between Downey and Rourke was over too fast, and didn't resolve the subtext between their fathers satisfactorily, but overall 7.5/10.<br />
<br />
Nice epilogue at the end of the credits (phew, nine minutes & 3 songs) too ... the big crater in the desert and what looked like Thor's hammer... -
It's early days yet, but I gotta say I'm astonished to see the preliminary reviews today for SNL's "MacGruber." The trailer (and WWE Raw fiasco) made it looked like an infantile turd, but it's getting enthusiastic boffo reviews...<br />

Robin Hood. It really was utter shit. One of the worst movies I've seen (at the cinema) in a while. It never seemed to know what story it wanted to tell. It was torn between the signing of the magna carta and between telling a story about Robin Hood. It failed at both. Even the old Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was twice the movie.

Alan Rickman is an awesome villain.<br />
Kick Ass<br />
<br />
from the ads I think I was expecting a silly comedy about a kid trying to be a superhero...what you get is quite a bit more<br />
<br />
Some funny stuff in it, but also quite violent (ala Tarantino) <br />
<br />
I really liked it (even Nick Cage's odd character) 8/10
<br />
Just watched and thought it was awesome - seemed very much like a Tarantino movie, but not a rip off though.<br />
I'm hoping they over dubbed some of Hit Girls speech. <br />
Looks like a sequel is in the works.<br />
<br />
Hopefully the combined TSF hatred of Cage doesn't stop some people from heading out to watch this! -
watched it just last night and... since I love these kind of films I found it to be really awesome!! If you liked it I recommend you "The Fall"... <br />

yes i saw the fall last year and enjoyed it a lot <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> -
'A single man' - unless you are a fan of very arty flicks, do not go and see this. Critics raved and it won awards etc, but it was crap, not much of a storyline, and the shooting is just all over the place. And then there was the gay mermaid underwater scene. 90 mins of my life I cannot get back.

Mrs TR would agree, said it was rubbish.... -
I saw two movies I would normally ignore on the plane, "It's Complicated" and "The Blind Side". First one was excellent, a nice adult funny movie, and a performance from Alec that reminded me of why I was fan of his 15 years ago. He's great at mugging for the camera, but he has depth and can underline a scene with real subtlety. And Meryl Streep is effortlessly good and whatever she wants to be really.<br />
<br />
The Blind Side was fine, without being great. While it's an uplifting story and all that, I'm not sure why she won an Oscar for the role. Am a fan of Sandra Bullock though. -

Because she was only really in a two horse race and people are sick of seeing Streep win everything. That said Streep is favourite of mine(and everyone else except TR <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> ) and doesn't really need oscars. The academy probably thought the same. -
I can't stand Streep!! Wife loved It's Complicated, but I refused to watch on principle!! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Watch it for Alec Baldwin, he's excellent in it. It's a very rare film too, a comedy not aimed at moronic teenagers. -
Watched the Book of Eli the other day and really enjoyed it. It's a post-apocalyptic starring Denzel Washington who is carrying the last bible. I loved it but I'm pretty keen on the post-apocalyptic movies. It also stars the dark haired chic from That 70's show. Worth seeing but I don't think you'd miss much if you waited for the DVD. I didn't pick the ending but I hardly ever do.
<br />

Mila Kunis is her name I think, she is very easy on the eye.<br />
<br />
Anywhoo, also saw this last night, quite liked it, although not convinced of the 'twist' at the end as to how it fitted in with a number of things. Parts of it did remind me of The Road.<br />

Hard to believe she goes home to Michael Jackson's homeboy Macaulay Culkin every night.<br />
<br />
Was persuaded to buy This Is It today. I loved MJ as a kid(though not literally) and still love some of the music. But my god was he a fruit loop. At one stage he was wearing 3 different shirts all at once!<br />
<br />
Its all rehearsals and yet there are times where he is wearing a gold jacket and pants. That basically means that morning he got up put gold pants on, walked down to the kitchen,sat and ate breakfast then checked his mail all the while wearing gold pants. At one stage my wife was picturing herself in some of his clothes...<br />
<br />
Hardly a ground breaking opinion but no less true. -
Wolfman - Anthony Hopkins, Benicio del Toro<br />
<br />
I so wanted to like this (or at least it be a good film) like a good werewolf film (terrified myself with The Howling as a youngster) but this was rubbish, even the trailers were average, but I thought maybe it will be good. 3.5/10 -
Ahh The Howling. Man I loved that film (probably terrible to go back and watch now). Used to be on the previews of all the VHS rentals we used to get.
<br />
<br />
I know, I've watched a few films that scared me as a kid, I am now certain I was a wuss! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> -

Roger that! It is not shit but it's not scary anymore. "IT" scared the bejebus out of me as a kid but barely registers now.
