It's been a while since we've had a grumpy old man hating on modern day English usage thread but I have been triggered (
) by seeing "verse" as a verb on Sky News this morning, as in "The Wallabies will verse Wales, Georgia ... etc".
I really really hate that.
It's not a word! Grrrr
-
It is nearly as bad as 'Uasage'
Fuck I hate that!

I don't know what you mean...
(Typos I can live with ... )
-
Yeah its a fucking bogan Aussie thing the old "verse" and it gets worse:
"Yeah we're gunna be versing the Magpies on Satdee arvo"
Whenever my kids come home with that shit I give them an English lesson.

Another made up Australian verb I don't like.

Bunch of Grumpy old bastards. Reminds me of the lectures I'd get from my mother.
The English language is fluid, changes all the time.why not get outraged about things that actually matter?

My kids use "Verse" and "versing" and because i am a shit parent, i can't be fucked correcting them. I think it's a word now.
Probably the one that pisses me off the most is cis. Someone referred to me as cis-gendered the other day and i deadset wanted to slap a bitch.

I've also heard "guttering " instead of gutting from people I work with . All the more annoying from people who actually work in an industry that involves guttering.
I despair.

'I was so upset I had new gutters installed'
-
"Learnings" - what was wrong with "Lessons"?
-
Not a made up word but the Aussie habit of adding "but "to the end of a sentence is clearly annoying enough to be grounds for justifiable homocide.
Also "eh" is the correct word for the end of sentence in civilised society anyway eh?
