@canefan improved on a rewatch. Presumably my expectations were too high the first time around.

By the cringe but Amazon and Netflix have a wide range of quality in their offerings. Some great stuff, some diabolical stuff and then some absolutely must watch stuff.

The Gardener on Prime is in the latter category. Basic story of a well to do but dysfunctional family under threat when armed burglars pay them a visit. Up steps the Serbian gardener who happens to be a war veteran to save the day. The Serb looks like a knock off Charles Bronson which some might consider a red flag.

However the level of writing, acting, dialogue, plot and action sequences are what stand out. Without exception they are absolutely awful - think Dolemite level awful but without the humour. This film is so bad that it simply must not be missed. This is one you can tell your Grandchildren about.

Watch it now, before it gets shitcanned.

    Equalizer 3

Finally got around to renting this on Google. Not disappointed, though the ending seemed to be a bit quick.

There are two levels of self-own there.

An admission that you’ve seen it AND an admission that you’ve seen worse.

    I admire your fortitude.

    The Creator

Dystopian future, the rise of AI, terminator type of movie but told through a completely different lens. Part of the world embraces AI and part wants it gone and the battle to save or kill it ensues.
One of the best sci fi movies of last year in my mind. Great graphics, some weapons that look like they could have been off a Star Wars set and an all action chase.

    Anyway thoroughly enjoyed it

@mariner4life was plugging this also - I see it’s just come out on Disney so I’m definitely going to check it out, cheers

So have any of you Snyder fans actually watched Star Wars Firefly Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven Rebel Moon yet?

It's definitely not as good as I was hoping but decent enough. At least those bad South Africans were killed. 😉

The R rated version might be more interesting.

I made the mistake of watching a Snyder cut once, never again. 😉

    Speaking of Snyder ...

Aquaman: The DCEU went out with a whimper, hopefully the DCU under Gunn will be better.

Very average movie, would have been worse if not for Momoa and Patrick Wilson.

Kidman looks like she was CGI. Still funny that Aquaman is half Aussie and half Kiwi.

Best thing about it, less than two hours long.

    I watched Rebel Moon.
    Not recommending.
Most interesting thing was probably how bad 3 of the supporting actors were (but Charlie seemed to have fun).
It was like a poor man's Luc Besson movie with a Virtual Production/Unreal Engine backdrop but none of the crazy but cool French crap, and the director had forgotten to direct the actors.
Even the Hopkins narration was a phone-in job.
    Good gymnastics, mind.

@nostrildamus I persevered for about 20 minutes but found it unwatchable.

Perhaps wikipedia is wrong - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tank_Museum#Film

    Also https://www.livescience.com/48245-fury-film-ww2-tiger-tank.html

    Definitely not in Cairns: https://tankmuseum.org/article/the-enduring-appeal-of-tiger-131

    Tank museum in Bovington

    re Tiger

It's 70 years old, it may look big and butch but it is delicate, so many things can go wrong on it...

    No change there then!

Not a patch on Carlito's Way IMO. For either Pacino (whose range in Scarface appeared to be the volume with which he yelled) or de Palma. A B grade movie like most of his efforts, which makes me wonder who really directed The Untouchables.

Carlitos Way is also very good yes but by god the ending fucks me off. His mate Pachanga goes from wanting to kill Benny Blanco to working for him ??? That doesn’t feel right. Also he takes the bullets from Kleinfelds gun but he still gets the drop on the guy who comes to kill him ?

But yeah, maybe Scarface wasn’t Day Lewis/Oldman level method acting but fuck AP nailed the role like no one else and I loved how GTA Vice City ripped off so much of it. I’ll always love it as a flick provided I have a break before watching it each time

I'm Carlito's Way over Scarface too. Great performance and film. Can't be too down on De Palma because as you note he made this and the Untouchables.
