Yarned to Nehe at the gym the other night - he is amping to mark Jules... NOT!!

Should be a cracker of a match. Lions have been weak sauce in recent years. Time to pull finger and see some better performances!

Whats with all of the hyphenated surnames these days, is that something to do with woman's rights?

              @chimoaus I've had that discussion too. 🙂

I'm waiting for 2 people with hyphenated surnames to have kids and use the same naming convention. Good luck signing that signature!!

Yes that would be funny, I'm just waiting for Mr De Kock and Mrs Hore to get married and go hyphenated.

Dan Kirkpatrick, that's a blast from the past.

Its great to see the odd 'old' name pop in various teams.

                  Got to love the NPC

Varsity with only one player in the Poo XV? They have gone downhill.

Trent Renata seems to have been around forever or was he just really young when his name was first about?

Interesting that Savea has requested to play right wing. Hopefully it might give him a shot of confidence.

Interesting that Fidow has been named as the starting tight head prop. I thought he could have been used as the reserve hooker because he's not a great scrummager. He played hooker against Ireland U20 at the world Cup and did pretty well.

Looking forward to this one. Like others I don't rate Fidow at all and there are better scrummaging props in Wellington club rugby that could have been picked in his place. Aumua though I am really looking forward to seeing how he goes this year.

Aumua fends off NMS easily and Wellington are up 7-0.

And another. Very well worked short side move off a scrum going forward. NMS looking sharp.

NMS seems to be getting back into form. Black was a bit ordinary. J-GB had a better game
I would like to see Savea have a run a center with Goosen at 2nd to see how it goes

I want to see more of Fidow. Canes need another TH and maybe with lots of conditioning and another year he might shape up by next year as the third TH

The Canes region doesn't stop at the Wellington region's borders. No need to invest too much in Fidow if he isn't the real deal, if you've got better props running around in other Canes' provinces.

Fidow has a great potential (mobility, strength, good hands). Charlie F was not a good scrummager a few years ago either. I remember he spent an awful evening against Kitshoff when the Blues faced the Stormers in Cape Town. Fidow is still very young so he's got plenty of time to develop.

Poor old Alex Fidow, the kid is only 20 and he is playing ITM!!! We need to let him develop. Maybe he makes it, maybe not but he suffers from the fact we do not put emphasis on scrimmaging until after school like ofa, Charlie etc. let's not rip him apart but see if he has the work ethic to get better and let time judge him.

That's all very well letting Fidow mature but the concerning thing is he was frequently scrummed off the park by his peers at age grade level.

I'm hoping NZ has moved away from streamlining schoolboy props who make highlight reels for bumping off 16-year-olds and pick frontrowers on their scrumming merit.

There was a notable change this year with the NZU20 : Lindenmuth and Rakete-Stones are very good scrummagers but not too flashy in the loose (no barnstorming runs but efficient driving).

Equal argument would be to select players with the right build, right desire to learn and best natural skills. Scrummaging at young levels can easily be dominated by early maturing bodies or sheer size. Those dominant props do not necessarily go on the be the best test players.
I'm glad that the ABs seem to dig a bit deeper when selecting test potential than Super coaches do.
