I wish RA had the foresight to sign Jordan Mailata 2 years ago. Could be a starting Wallaby 8 or lock.

NRL didn't like him as he plays a few minutes at a time. High effect, but can't go 80.

NFL loves him as he plays a few minutes at a time. High effect, and can go the distance with breaks, drinks and massages.

So, yeah - probably not a rugby player, but certainly a great American Football dude. Keen to see him develop and hopefully have a good career

@sapetyvi One wonders why the coach here couldn't achieve that from him.

@nzzp with the way "finishers" are being used these days, you could get his fitness to a point where he's a 40 minute player and worth every second.

Actually, he could be the Aussie Tongan-Frizell with 10-20 minute cameos.

@antipodean I think he has also matured there, I remember one season at the Tahs he lost noticeable weight, but got it back during the season.
There is nothing the coach can do if a player goes home and eats like shit, that change needs to come from the player.

@gumboot well it was only fair after cheap shot merchant Moody got a rest in Nelson. 😉

I’ll now be watching this hopefully after seeing that 10-12 axis. Nice move by Cheika, roll the dice.

Didn’t think Foley did much wrong, but doesn’t quite look himself at mo

I’ve nver been a fan of Foley but I thought he’s was one of the better Aussies. Saved a try last game with great defense, Real put your body on the line stuff. And set up a try soon after with a nice break. Seems odd to drop him.

Yeah not disagreeing with those moments, but he just didn’t seem to really spark the back line like he has in previous.

Will Beale be better though? They finally have Beale looking comfortable in a position, dangerous at times, now they move him?

Cheika desperately rolling the dice in hope rather than expectation?

Foley needs to get a rest at some point and not much options available at the moment. Toomua will probably slot a lot at first five to give Beale some freedom tho.

Beale at 10, boom or bust....he could cause havoc and set the backline alight, or he could just as easily self implode ala Kwade.

    Might be worth watching.

On the plus side at least the loose forwards will be closer when Beale inevitably misses tackles down his channel.

I think he wants Beale to have more ball. Which I whole heartedly agree with from his point of view. He's the best chance Australia have of creating something out of nothing.

I agree he needs more ball, but as we know at 10 you want more steady and directing play rather than off the cuff.

I’d be concerned about him crabbing across field which he has a tendency to do sometimes. Giteau did it as well when he shifted to 10.

I found it interesting in the media they are talking about Foley being demoted and Cheika saying he took the demotion well. Maybe semantics but wouldn't it be better to come out and say we are going for a different attacking style and Beale is better suited. Or we need to give other players a chance in crucial positions to improve our depth. Shag Is the master in this tactic.

Seems a bit of a public shaming to say, yeah Foleys been a bit shit and hes been dropped as a result. Would do wonders for the players confidence.

Agreed. Get him more involved where he's dangerous, at 12 / 15.

It's a bit rich to blame Foley when other players are pushing passes, giving away penalties, falling off tackles etc.

Pocock ruled out with a neck injury. Pete Samu replaces him in the starting side.

Looks like the ABs are blamed for the injury 🙄

David Pocock has been ruled out of Saturday’s Brisbane Test with a neck injury.

New Zealand targeted Pocock heavily in the breakdown in their two Bledisloe Tests and the Kiwis’ treatment left the flanker with neck soreness that he is yet to fully shake off.

After the Auckland Bledisloe Test, Pocock could barely move his neck and nearly a fortnight later he is still suffering stiffness amid concerns for his long-term health.

The flanker will be replaced in the starting side by Pete Samu.
