All Blacks C team...

Not the most dynamic speaker but an interesting thought exercise. If the entire current ABs squad was 'Suzied' or 'Old Christianed', who would get picked?
He came up with this, some def areas of weakness - which is what makes it interesting, as we could have a Beaver situation in a years time (although people like Todd, Dagg, and other Japanese tourists would also be available for that).
Yes he forgot a back up 10....
-
No Papalii or Jordan? What's this guy smoking?
-
I find these tedious. It's not interesting until you work out the last XV you'd select from Super Rugby.
-
@akan004 I don't think this guy watches much NPC.
-
1 W. Crockett
2 B. Funnell
3 C. King
4 L. Romano
5 M. Dunshea
6 T. Sanders
7 M. Todd
8 T. Blue
9 B. Hall
10 M. Hunt
11 T. Mako
12 D. Havili
13 S. Tamanivalu
14 B. Ennor
15 G. Bridge -
@act-crusader wins TSF today.
-
@act-crusader Actually, if you chucked in Alaalatoa and Strange, I like your team better than the original.
You could play Jordan on the left wing instead of T. Mako, as well. He's certainly been more impressive during the M10 Cup.
-
Gareth Evans & Matt Proctor would walk into this team.

Theres already a few canes in there don't be greedy

And would still be beaten by Auckland, right?
-
@mn5 Is that how we pick our All Blacks now is it? A fair representation from each team... yeah right.
Proctor is better than Walden and Evans is better than Prinsep (fellow Cane).
-
Not a bad effort in the OP. I'd have Papali'i at 7, Makalio at 2, Proctor at 13 and Thompson at 12, but other than that I think this guy's team is pretty good.

so in what disaster does Fifita (currently on tour) survive to make the ABs and none others on tour do?
Not to mention, Read is here avoiding whatever disaster has befallen our ABs...silly game

If Fifita is avoiding it, it might be something to do with a ruck?

I guess the vid was recorded just before he was called up. Not exactly the best vid, but I thought the idea was interesting.
I reckon it'd probably still beat a few of the other League of Nations Top 12 teams
-
Reed Prinsep? I don't have any issues with the concept (it's basically the equivalent of us talking tutae on here) but damn the selection is a bit off.

Possibly - but, not by the Blues!

@mn5 your Ngatai radar is working well I see, didn’t take you long to get here.

It was quicker when @Rancid-Schnitzel was mentioning nudes on his fitness thread but I do my best.

Is this related to your nudes?

@machpants Atunisa Mola, Kane Hames and Nepo Laulala would have all played Prop for the All Blacks this year but for injury. Jordan Taufua would have been picked in the Back Row.
I think Blake Gibson, Brad Weber, Asifa Aumua, Akira Ioane, Vince Aso, Will Jordan and Ben Lam are as good as players in the current All Blacks squad.

Where is the love for George Moala? Unlike Ngatai he actually did some decent stuff on the field for the MIB

This post is deleted! -
@mn5 Moala was a ball hog.
-
-
@sparky The injuries to Hames and Moli have been a blessing in disguise. We wouldn't have heard of big Karl had those guys been playing for the Chiefs this year. Loosehead was an area of concern too with only Moody being truly world class. Not anymore.

Dick picks.

Okay. I’ll bite.
I’d have Savea over Gibson.
TTT and TJP well above Weber (Hall even).
Aumua has played how much rugby? And even though Harris has a big question mark his scrum work would be far superior to Aumua’s.
Akira who?
Aso on par with or ahead of one of SBW, Crotty, Goodhue, ALB, Laumape, nah don’t think so.
With Will Jordan and Ben Lam, I think history has shown that you have to have a standout year to get into the squad as an outside back and once there play fairly consistent. Once there though the AB coaches will invest in you and show a decent amount of loyalty. -
@act-crusader You've missed the point, this is a C team. Only ABs eligible players (so no one in Japan or Eu, etc) who are fit & available, and are not already in the squad.
A hypothetical team, if the ABs squad was wiped out, who would take the field - just to see if the famous ABs depth is actually "Beaver Deep" (TM), or not actually that good in reality
-
@machpants I think he is pointing out what he considers hyperbole with sparky saying those 'c team' players are as good as the current abs, nothing to do with next rung of players.

Yep, hyperbole to suggest Akira might be as good as Luke Whitelock!
-
@nepia The best explanation is that he falls foul of the NDP.

Chris B. said:

The NDP's must be the most fluid policy out there considering who and who doesn't fall foul of it.
-
Yes it must be all that off the ball niggle that Akira has never been penalised once in his first class career for....
-
Akira just needs to publicly criticise Hansen about his confusion over his non-selection. That gets you back in the squad...
-
@nepia 1/7 players named there, I'll give you that one.

I think a case could be made for Aumua over Harris, Jordan over NMS, Lam over NMS. I'm not saying I'm making that case, but the case could be made. And Bryn Hall over nobody.
