@MN5 Nah, Helenius just doesn't have great punch resistance and has been put down in the past by 2 Wilder victims in Duhaupas and Washington who are both featherfisted by HW standards so if they can put you to sleep, it wouldn't take much for someone as powerful as Wilder to lay you out.

I hear ya. The head definitely jolted but it certainly wasn’t a classic Wilder punch where he winds up and gives it everything. Looked to me like one that wouldn’t put much of a dent in a bag having viewed it a few times.

    I just think it’s a definite possibility.

Wasnt a full power shot with the weight on the back foot and not stepping forward to follow through with the power

But The head certainly snaps back , I think enough there to turn his legs to rubber , probably not others

    That was legit

Totally unprepared for the punch - he thought he’d got his in first

Just needed a tie when he was lying on his back

Internet is certainly divided on it that’s for sure. Lots of arguments either way……

could be our generations “Did Sonny Liston take a dive vs Ali”? ( I sure reckon he did )

    I’m not convinced either way.

the brushing glove would have slowed the punch even further as well !

Surprising no mention of the SBW fight. Anyone see it?

@Rancid-Schnitzel was just reading about it and saw the two knockdowns. Hunt still has power and he clocked SBW a few good ones.

Not bad for a 48 year old! Wonder what SBW does from here?

    Keep fighting ex-league players?
He's 37. I wonder how long he'll stick with boxing.
Well done Mark Hunt, a triumphant blow for dad bods everywhere!

@nostrildamus with what we know about head injuries and such I'd be wrapping things up. He's been a top class athlete for a long period so hopefully he calls it quits after this fight. He might not want to end on a KO though, that would be tough for a guy who is used to winning.

Getting in the ring with Mark hunt takes fucking guts

Mark Hunt has bombed dudes in to oblivion for an entire career. And I've seen guys hit him with a truck and he shrugs it off

Even at an "advanced" age he's a dangerous human.

Gallen beat Hunt didn't he? I don't watch any boxing, was that result a sign of how good Gallen is or how unprepared Hunt was compared to last night?

@Crazy-Horse Hunt had Gallen stunned a couple of times but Gallen recovered well and won on superior workrate.
Gallen will retire after fighting Hodges who dropped him last time as Gallen is showing less and less punch resistance.
Still would like to see Gal v SBW just out of interest.
Hunt was all wrong for SBW as he doesn't have Gals workrate to rely on and Hunt looked fitter this time around. SBW could never stop Hunt but Hunt had the power to stop SBW

Me too. I hope SBW retires gracefully. He's probably had lots of head knocks in his career, and boxing on just increases the chances of serious brain injury later on in life.

SBW has had a magnificent career. He has nothing left to prove to anyone.

Yeah it's all fun and games until you get your head smacked in. Will be interesting to see what he does and how he makes the transition to retirement. I assume he'll want to go out on a high so maybe just one last pub boxer to knock out? I just hope he stays away from being a pundit and commentator. Damn he's shit at that.

    Entertaining fight.

Some more highly rated heavyweights could take note at how they both kept swinging. SBW showed heart, skill ( particularly early on ) and toughness but a fighter of Hunts calibre is obviously just a bridge too far.

@Rancid-Schnitzel in terms of his punditry I find him so bad that he’s good, certainly more entertaining than any NZ based ones anyway.
